Description:

1965 Ford Mustang Coupe

This is a 1965 Mustang Coupe with many upgrades and LOTS of trick parts.I have had it for a little over 10 years, and have been driving it while fixing and upgrading it.It turns heads wherever it goes. I am at a point where I no longer have time to work on it, and will be losing my storage for it soon. So, it's time to go.

This is an older restoration that needs some freshening up.There is some rust starting to bubble up here and there, which is shown in the pictures. This was originally a 6 cylinder car with an automatic, but someone before me swapped in a 289 V8, a 4-speed toploader, and an 8 inch rear axle.

I have receipts that came with the car going back to 2002.It looks like most of the previous restoration was done around 2003 and 2004.When I got the car back in 2007, it had all of the following parts already on it, which all match the receipts.

--289 V8 engine with the following...

1975 302 heads that have the same valve diameter as 289 HiPo heads, but with hardened valve seats to handle unleaded gas.

Edelbrock Performed intake manifold.

Edelbrock Performer camshaft.

Edelbrock 4-barrel carb.

Edelbrock valve covers.

Edelbrock light weight aluminum water pump.

Hooker competition long tube headers.

Flowmaster 50 mufflers with turn-downs.

3-row Fluidyne Aluminum radiator

--4-speed wide ratio Toploader with vintage Hurst shifter and chrome T handle.

--8 inch rear axle.

--Complete suspension rebuild including TCP adjustable upper control arms.

--SSBC Force 10 Front Disc Brakes.

--Monte Carlo Bar.

--New floor pans.

--Full body work and paint.

--Brand new Head Lights and Tail Lights.

--16 X 7 Torque Thrust wheels.

--Frame rails are boxed up and welded.

--Sub-frame Connectors added.

--Old-school Traction Bars installed.

I bought the car in 2007, and it needed a few things right away. Here are all of the things that I have put into it since I've had it:

--Rebuilt 8-inch center section with extra-ribbed case, new 3.55 gears, and a new Trak-Loc posi.

--New 620 pound front coil springs to give it a better stance and improved handling.

--None of the gauges were connected, so I installed an aftermarket gauge bezel with generic hotrod gauges to make it easy.

--It had a clutch issue when I got it, so I went overboard and installed a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch and throwout bearing, with a Ford Racing Billet Steel flywheel.

--All new parking brake parts, since they were never installed after someone swapped in the 8-inch axle.

--Rear brake rebuild with new drums.

--New heater core and hoses.

--New gas tank.

--New leather racing seats with 3-point seat belt set up.

--New retro car stereo and speakers. The new rear speakers are installed and working, and I added a functional third brake light in the back while doing that. The wires are in place for the front speakers, but not installed. The new kick panels with the speaker cut outs, and the new speakers will come with the car.The new car stereo also works with an external USB flash drive.I will include a flash drive already filled with lots of old school rock music.

A few years after receiving the car, it developed an engine knock, so I tore down the engine. It turned out to be a cracked piston. While working on it, I realized that this engine had the original bore diameter and had never been bored.Since an original bore 289 is extremely rare, I decided not to overbore it and keep the original bore diameter. The engine was lightly honed, and put back together with all new pistons, rings, bearings, and gaskets. While overhauling the engine, I upgraded the heads to have studs and guideplates with adjustable 1.7 ratio roller rockers. It also went back together with an MSD ignition and some other minor improvements.

This car is driveable and fun as is, but there are some areas that need attention. There is some light surface rust starting on some of the chrome. There is some rust just starting to bubble up under the paint in a few areas. The gap at the front of the driver's side door has the paint chipped off with some rush starting.Looks like there was a hinge problem somewhere in its past. The hood is not quite perfectly straight. There is a light dent in the driver's side rear fender, but it's hard to see.The dash pad starting to curl and needs to be replaced.Seems to be missing the trim that holds it down.

Overall, this should be an easy and fun project to have quite a badass restomod Mustang.

Please contact me with any questions about the car.It is currently located just south of Philadelphia. The winning bidder can pick it up, or if you would like it shipped, I will drive it to a nearby shipping location, within reason.
