1958 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Convertible

1958 Bug Convertible. Complete restoration!Price: 45,588This is a 58 Bug CONVERTIBLE that I bought from my neighbor who was the original owner. It was parked in 1970 and had'nt moved until I bought it in 2003. I could write many pages on what have done to this car, but will try to summarize . It is a 6 volt car with all new wiring and was restored as close to original as I could get. The body has the original 4 tab hood, original doors, original engine lid, original front fenders, the rear fenders have been replaced with ones that have the dashes between the bolt holes like the originals had. It had no indication of ever having any bad accidents. It has new Danish heater channels and side “convertible only” supports. All fender bolts are stainless with stainless washers. Front apron and spare well, rear bumper mounts and lower quarter panels have been replaced. The rear seat window well floor and top frame are original! It has the original 36 HP engine that has been completely rebuilt by someone who worked at a VW dealership in the 70s. It has new Mahle pistons and cylinders. Rebuilt original heads. All new bearings, stainless push rod tubes. NOS stale air heater boxes and muffler, new stainless tailpipes with a chrome cheese grater. Rebuilt generator, carbureto, fuel pump and starter. Transmission is original and shifts nicely with no grinds or howls. All hardware, mounts, cables etc are also new. The fuel line inside the tunnel was replaced with a new stainless one. The body and floor pan were completely bead blasted and coated with SPI self etching epoxy. The floor pans were replaced with Wolfsburg Wests HD 18 ga steel ( the best on the market ! ) ones. The body was refinished in base coat clear coat Urethane in its original color of Black. To break up the Black the sides were done in Ivory which gives the car a special look that everyone loves! New “Euro” style bumpers with overrides for a clean look. The interior is all new in Brick red and Ivory, using TMI products. All the seat frames were sandblasted, epoxy coated and finished in silver/new metal style. All cushions were replaced with the original style horse hair. The floor coverings are as original with rubber mat on the tunnel and footwells. The floor mats have the original style metal tabs welded to the floor. It comes with a set of front seat belts with special bolt in floor brackets . I cannot may bring myself to drill holes in the floor! The new owner can decide! It has a lot of dressup items such as. Tailpipe “cheese grater”, tall rear fender splash guards, Volkswagen emblem on front hood along with a new Wolfsburg crest, defrost outlet chrome edging, door and hood handle fingernail guards, a reserve valve extension handle. A glovebox door finger handle so it can actually be opened! The fuel system has the original fuel tank refinished in the original black and in great condition, a new reserve/ on/ off / valve, new stainless front to rear line, fuel pump and carb are rebuilt and air cleaner is original. The brake system has all new stainless steel hydraulic lines, all rubber lines, all wheel cylinders and a new dual brake system master cylinder using a van double reservoir bottle that is fed by the original steel fluid can behind the spare tire so it looks original. It has dot , silicone brake fluid. Running boards are new HD ones from Wolfsburg West. It has all 5 original rims with wide whitewall tires are from Coker. It has special German trim rings that are very rare and look great on the car! It has a Blaupunkt sw, mw,am,fm radio that used to work haven’t tried it recently though. I am still assembling the car now and more gets put on as the days go by. The one thing that will need to be done is a new convertible top installed. The top frame has been blasted, primed with epoxy, painted. All new wood peices are installed with stainless hardware, very expensive. The wood was coated in urethane, A new beige cloth (as original) headline and padding have been installed. The rear window frame is in place. But the top still needs to be done. It has a brand new windshield installed with new rubber and chrome bead. Also, the paint on the front hood needs to be wetsanded and recoated. Not really that noticeable, but for perfection it should be refinished, Not a big deal since the hood can be removed. It also has a drip from the rear wheel bearing seal. the new one must have been incorrectly installed . Vent glass needs to be set in frames. All side glass chrome frames are in great original condition except the drivers door glass has some pitting in the chrome. Another frame comes with the car as a core to be rechromed. So, Top installed, hood refinished, rear wheel drip, vent glass installed, rechrome one glass frame. . Will deduct for these items. It starts right up and runs excellent! Also comes with boxes of parts 2 rims and misc items. Sale of house forces sale of my “ Keep forever” Car! It has a clear title and the original key that locks the glove box, hood latch and ignition. There is another key for the drivers door and both door handles are new. It also has. 2 keys for the new locking engine lid. It comes with the original jack and bar, tire wrench, asst original tools and original owners manual. Has a new top boot and new Front nose bra to protect from road chips.
