Description:
1984 Volkswagen Rabbit
The GoodBody in great condition. All tinted windows. Rear seat bench comes out for more storage if needed. Fresh paint only a few years old, looks great.
Thule roof rack with bike holder & wooden racks custom built.
New 1.6 head with only 90k on it.
Brand new factory rebuilt Injection Pump - never yet had veggie oil ran though it.
LOTS of new parts, windshield, hood, head lamps, brakes, bearings, fuel lines, thermostat, water pump, glow plugs etc.
4spd transmission = 50mpg
3 1/2 gallon quick detach marine fuel tank for WVO mounted under under hood.
WVO system includes diesel, wvo, & water lines connected between brass fittings, ball valves & a 10 plate heat exchanger.
Once engine warms up, its safe to manually switch to veggie oil. Separate ball valves allow any desired amount of diesel to be simultaneously mixed into the system as well.
Block heater installed through back of freeze plug for pre - warm up on those colder winter mornings.
Glow plugs have a separate fuse box installed to make it easier to prevent & diagnose blown glow plugs.
Ball hitch in bumper. Diesel engines have a ton of torque & tow strong. I've towed small boats up & down boat ramps with thing no problem.
Lower half of engine & body has low 200k on it
There is always little things that it wants but they are easy & cheap fixes.
These lil' Rabbits die hard & are a joy to work on.
The Bad
Odometer quit around 200k
Speedometer works but needle is snapped. Despite it, you can still roughly see speed though.
Door handles need replacing. Access only from inside or trunk hatch. I just leave the windows down & open doors by reaching inside. Or lock up & have access through the rear hatch.
Drips oil from the valve cover. Could prob use be tightened a bit. They're kinda finicky with pressure. But as with most VW, if it aint drippin oil, it aint running.
Tail lens has small crack in it. Have red translucent tape over & looks fine.
Oil pressure sensor that came with new head needs replacing. This causes oil pressure light to stay on until its replaced.
Rear brakes could be tighted up a bit.
Seatbelts receivers need replacing. I just wrap the belt around the seat adjustment.
Leather seats are old & cracked.
Shift linkage needs upgrading
Front tires are getting there.
The Ugly
Headliner is out right now. Never got around to putting it back in.
Various plastic pieces missing or in poorly cracked condition.
All of these are cheap & easy fixes - I just don't have the time like I use to anymore & don't need the money.
Bill of sale only. Georgia doesn't need or issue titles for cars older then 20yrs or so.
