1960 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Chrome

This was the final and best VW engine, body, and suspension designed and built by Ferdinand Porche himself and assembled at the factory in Wolfsburg West Germany in October of 1959. Engine rebuilt 14,003 miles ago. Modern Bosch points and ignition components and modern steal belted radial tires. Original transmission, original wiring, meticulous service record on brakes, suspension, bearings, front end, and engine. Interior has new floor carpets and headliner. Basically, I’ve made particular effort NOT to make any design changes or mechanical modifications so that it will drive, perform, and maintain as originally envisioned. Comes with factory service manual and many parts to maintain the vehicle for the next several years.

Drive train and body is all original 1960. No accidents. If you look closely at the interior, you'll see that the carpets, headliner, and steering wheel are 1964 and not 1960. I added the yellow front signal lenses for better looks and clarity, but I have the white ones too. Also missing is the Wolfsburg crest on the hood. It comes with a pair of 1960 Massachusetts year of manufacture license plates (good condition - not shown in photos).Needs a new muffler and the front seat cushion is ripped. Everything else is in great shape.

I've owned this Bug since 2002 and I'm the 3rd owner. The original owner bought it in Vancouver, Washington. The second owner professionally repainted the entire body himself with the original VW stock black glossy metallic paint in Oregon in 2001, and I've kept it in a climate controlled classic car storage facility near Boston every winter and a majority of summers ever since. The paint really shines and little to no rust has developed on the body or frame (see photos).

The seat covers are OEM vinyl with the original peppermint colors and design (modern technology in 1960). If I rebuilt them, I would use the cloth seat covers VW used in the 1950s for most of the run of this body design, which I think are a better match and luxurious. The interior still has that original coconut-hair smell of the seat cushions which will bring back any memories if you have experiences riding in one back in the day when they were new.Think "Sound of Music".
