1950 Oldsmobile 88

Vehicle Details

This 1950 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 Futurematic is an original and has been owned by the same person for over 30 years prior to me buying it. The last time it was on the road was in 1987. The previous owner said he misplaced the keys and just let the car sit due to newer vehicles coming out for sale. I don’t have keys for it so I didn’t attempt to start it. It will come with the previous owners registration and a bill of sale. I drove by this car many times over the years and decided one day to buy it but I already have so many project cars so I want to pass this along to someone who would hopefully restore it. This car has push button start, 4 doors, auto with manual locks and windows. It looks pretty complete to me. It needs the passenger vent window replaced, interior upholstery and whatever else from sitting. The rear wheels were locked when we towed it but my guy was able to pull it on the trailer with a winch no problem. I have not gotten the hood open yet but once I do this week I’ll add pictures. The trunk has rust all around and there is some minor rust on the body but nothing serious. I am unsure of the mileage but I will add that later also.

The previous owner really wanted this to be restored and not parted out. There is the same model car on eBay in excellent condition for $40,000 so there is potential in putting the work into this if you’re up for it. If you need pictures of anything in particular send me a message otherwise I will be adding more pictures through the week. The gas tank is hanging, I think it needs replacement straps. I didn’t get the trunk open so it might be full of goodies. The floor looks solid but there are some areas needing attention by the doors. The frame looked solid which I was surprised to see and that coupled with how complete it is made me buy it. I recently bid on a project car that I really wanted and won so I’m making some room. Way too many projects for one person. Take a look at all of the pictures to be sure of the condition and what is included. I put air in the tires and they all took it but two have slow leaks on the drivers side, passenger side stays up and the wheel are original. I will put air in the tires before you pick it up.

I think he gave me an owners manual, I’ll check on that. Someone offered $500 just for the visor over the windshield but we declined wanting to keep it complete for the new owner. A $250 deposit is due within 24 hours by PayPal to show that you will complete the sale and it is not refundable. Ask any questions, please ask before submitting an offer or hitting buy it now. You would be surprised at the amount of people that hit buy it now, end the auction and then ask questions. Any non paying bidder will receive a strike on their account which leads to their account being suspended. Sold as is, no warranty. If you plan to have a transport company come pick it up, let them know that it need to be winched in order to make sure they send the right kind of truck. I will assist the driver with whatever I can to make this a smooth transaction.

Please check my feedback so you can buy with confidence. I am sure to give you as much information as I have and I’m transparent. I want you to love what you buy.

The collector in me really wants to trade this car for another classic that is running but I know I don’t need that-but.just in case I will consider a 64-66 Thunderbird, 66-70 Mercury Cougar or 66-68 Ford Galaxie for trade (running only).

Recap:

No keys, it might start with a battery and gas I’m not sure because I haven’t gotten the hood open which I will work on to get you pictures.

Rear wheels locked, might just be the brakes locked up from sitting.

Sold with previous registration from the 80’s.

$250 deposit due within 24 hours by PayPal unless you plan to pick it up within 24 hours but after the deposit you have 7 days to pick up.

This car was used in a few weddings back in the 70’s.

Sold as is, no warranty.

I will update the actual mileage.
