Description:

1988 Honda CRX Si

I've decided to let someone else enjoy this great little car. It's bone stock, rust free, recently serviced and comes with a bunch of cool spare stuff. It's not perfect, but it's mechanically sound and has a great story.
I purchased this Barbados yellow 1988 Honda CRX Si from it's original owner two years ago. I was shocked to find it completely stock, with a full service history, original window sticker, and totally free from rust and rot. It was adult owned and driven, and never altered. Needless to say, I was thrilled to find one in this condition. I started with the mechanical things it needed and spent quite a bit of time and money getting it back to daily driver condition. The drive belts, valve cover gaskets, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, induction service, motor mounts, transmission mounts, fluids, front struts and mounts, front brakes (rotors, calipers, pads, and hoses), rear brakes, muffler and exhaust tips, R-134 ac conversion, battery, OEM shift knob, and 4 new tires were added less than 1500 miles ago. I sourced center caps for the original 1988 alloys and purchased a spare set of 1990 wheels and center caps that will be included. I was never able to find NOS upholstery, so I purchased an STR custom kit to reupholster the seats (450 dollars and still new in box, also included in the sale). A full carpet kit, new in box, will be included as well. I also have rear window outer seals, OEM low and high tone horns, and a new antenna that will be in the trunk for the next owner. I had the windows ceramic tinted to keep the interior cool and protected from the Florida sun.
The car is an absolute blast to drive. It rips off revs like a sewing machine and handles like a go-kart. The clutch is smooth, brakes are strong, AC is freezing cold, and all of the electronics are in great working order, including the power sliding sunroof. The car is completely rust free, and remarkably rattle free and solid going over the road. The original owner loved this car and she was happy to provide me with a history on paper (the folder is huge) as well as a verbal history of her time with the car. I went back and forth as to whether I should restore the cosmetic things that come with time and mileage. The car is almost perfectly imperfect. The paint on the roof and rear quarters is faded and the clear coat failed years ago in these spots. There are chips on the hood and both bumpers are slightly misaligned. She mentioned two minor accidents, one in the front and one in the rear. The carfax report (I can provide a copy) corroborates her story and prior repair is evident. I didn't see anything I considered serious, and proceeded with purchasing the car after inspecting it. The interior is very tidy and well kept. The dash has a few imperfections and the steering wheel is worn some at the upper rim. The original seat covers have deteriorated at the bolsters in typical Honda fashion. They are still comfortable and supportive, but are showing their age. The audio system is not original and honestly sounds pretty awful by modern standards. The Sublime "40 oz. to Freedom" CD that is currently stuck in the CD deck will be included with the car. I have had a lot of thumbs up, compliments, offers to buy it scrawled on paper left under the wipers, and general interest in this car that I never expected when i bought it. It's a neat little survivor and a total throw back to a time when a Honda was truly innovative. I feel it's a very honest little car with nothing to hide and I'd love to see someone take it all the way back to it's original glory. Or strip it out and take it racing...it's your money. Either way, these cars have become something of a rarity the last few years. This one strikes a great balance between affordability and potential. I'd love to tell you more about the car, so please reach out to me with questions or concerns. -Ryan
