Description:

1976 Ford F-250

READ THIS IN ENTIRELY:This is a 1 of 3 1976 Ford F-250 Cab & Chassis Crew Cab 4x4 truck. It was originally ordered by Davidson College, and was used by the College until around the 1990. It was then sold, and remained in Mooresville, North Carolina until 2019 when I bought it and hauled it to Virginia. The worn out 360 FE engine, the inch thick patches of body filler in the roof, and the paintless bed floor was evidence that this truck was a true workhorse in its day.The restoration began with acquiring an excellent condition replacement roof from a 1974 Ford F250 Crew Cab, which had no holes or scratches. The 360 FE engine and the NP435 4-speed transmission were removed. A section around the hole in the passenger floor pan was replace, as well as the cab mount. The frame was cleaned, prepped, and painted with POR-15. The roof was removed from the truck. With the roof off, the inside of A,B, & C pillars with coated with Eastwood Internal Frame Coating to preserve the inner panels from corrosion. The roof supports were prepped and coated with POR-15. Although not needed, the inside of the replacement roof was prepped and painted with POR-15 to seal the roof from the unlikelihood for corrosion. Subsequently it was installed on the truck. The brake lines were replaced with coated hard lines. The rear Dana 60 was converted to disk brakes, equipped with emergency brake cables. The calipers, rotors, and brakes pads were replaced on the front Dana 60 too. The tires are 35x12.5x16.5 TBC Radial Traction M+S tires, which have like new tread with weather cracking. NP435 was overhauled with the Novak master rebuild kit (i.e. new bearings, seals, snap rings, & synchronizers). The engine was overhauled by an engine shop. It has DSS Racing forged pistions(0.030 over, 9:1 compression), comp cam Thumpr camshaft(0.519/.501), comp cam lifters, roller rocker arms(PRW PQx Series), new pushrods, Comp Cam double row timing gear and chain, Melling M57HV oil pump, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum Cylinder Heads, and Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 direct port fuel injection system. The engine was mated with the infamous Stan’s Tri-Y headers, which flow to two Flowmaster Super HP-2 mufflers that exit just in front of the rear tires. The engine was installed with new mounts, water pump, thermostat, drive belts, alternator, starter, voltage regulator, a resurfaced flywheel, a new clutch plate, clutch disk, release bearing, and pilot bearing. The fuel system consists of a new 23 gallon fuel tank, which is installed behind the rear Dana 60. A Walboro electric fuel pump(67gph/255lph) was installed in the tank. The high pressure fuel lines are fitted with -6AN fittings, and there’s a fuel regulator mounted on the inside of the frame just under the rear passenger seat. Of course, there’s an inline EFI fuel filter before the regulator. There’s a new aluminum Champion radiator up front, with new hoses, and two electric cooling fans. The bed was removed from the truck for thorough cleaning and painting. The underside was chemically stripped, scuffed and painted with 3 coats of an industrial grade moisture-cured polyurethane that’s back by a 20 year guarantee in harsh environments. Like the rest of the body of the truck, the bedsides and the inside of the bed were chemically stripped, scuffed, primed with the industrial grade moisture-cured polyurethane, and then top coated with Endura EX-2C paint in the truck’s original color, Wimbledon White. That combination was chosen for the simple purpose to preserve the sheet metal for another 48 years. The passenger side cab corner was replaced. A lap patch was put over the hole in the rear bed corner panel, the driver’s door corner. Only a handful of areas have body filler, and it was applied thin. The tailgate is an original, color matched tailgate. I think it has been repainted. The bed cover is a low production design made for the truck by a company in North Carolina. Years ago when they were in business, these were only shipped within a 50 mile radius. I bought it off the original owner in Lenoir,NC who had it in storage for the last 20 years for a project that never was completed. The windshield was replaced, the original was shattered by my mistake. I used a high quality gasket for the windshield and the rear sliding window. As pictured, I'm including the rare trim for the cab. One piece, for the B pillar, is missing. I have the upper trim pieces for the bed. If I locate the lower bed trim before it's sold, I will include it with the sale. Not pictured, I will also be include a new, remanufactured Power steering control valve. It's not needed, but I got the spare because they have become scarce. As pictured, I'm include Nostalgic Air Air Conditioning Kit. I don't have a compressor or drier for it.Vintage chrome Warn Bumper is included, with my custom mounts. That's an 8000lb Warn winch. Not pictured, also included is good condition 38.5x15x16.5 Denman Ground Hawg tires.I'll be posting videos later on MY YOUTUBE PAGE : https://youtube.com/@engineerwithskills?si=-eWE979QoIT1BOBU
