For sale is a 1971 Super Beetle, the first year where the Super Beetle was introduced. This Beetle variant was created to lower the cost of the standard Beetle and create a new refreshed model, they updated the Super Beetle going into the latter half of the 70s’. Since this is the first year of its kind, this Super Beetle has the flat windshield, retro dashboard, and retro taillights. There have only been three total owners of this Beetle, fully restored with new paint, tires, seats, brakes, transmission, 1.9L engine, everything. 98,365 car miles and ~300 engine miles.

Vehicle Details

This is a fully restored 1971 Super Beetle, the first year of the Super Beetle with the retro dash board and flat windshield. This Beetle was first originally from an owner in California, which means this Beetle has never seen rust. The Beetle has been restored to mint condition starting in 2020 and then finished by 2023. Everything is new top to bottom; new paint, new 1.9L engine, new drum brakes in the back, new disc brakes in the front, new transmission, new custom seat with cushions (gone with the horsehair), headliner, tires, hubcaps, you name it. Parts were all primarily purchased from JBugs. The engine itself was replaced at around 98,065 miles, so the engine miles itself is at least ~300 miles. Upgrades includes a 1.9L instead of the original stock 1.6L, electronic ignition, alternator, and disc brakes in the front. The car was repainted using the original paint color, done by a professional who restores cars that have appeared on the Barrett-Jackson Car Auction show.

The only thing wrong that I should mention, is that the left taillight sits a *little* lower than the right taillight, we didn’t notice the left taillight was off until a month after the restoration. This is because of how the left rear taillight screw holes was drilled from the manufacturer. It may need measuring and drilling to re-adjust. However, I do not have time to fix this, this will have to be on the buyer. But besides that, everything else about this Beetle is perfect, it runs and looks just like new.

Local pickup is welcome. However, customers outside of Michigan who would prefer to ship this Beetle are responsible for managing shipment.
