1990 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon GL

1990 Syncro Vanagon with ALH Turbo Diesel 186K approximate milage on the frame and body 122K miles on the ALH Motor (these are approximate based on previous seller info) I don’t have time to finish this project. I purchased this Syncro Vanagon a little over a year ago and went to work on a solid starter vehicle. But, sadly I won’t get to enjoy this rig as I’ve not driven it that much. The Sycnro TDI was converted before I purchased the vehicle from a shop in Oregon. I was just cleaning it up and making it more reliable.
The Good...
  • Solid body1.9L Volkswagen ALH Turbo Diesel Motor will get 30+ MPG
  • New brakes and brake lines
  • Rebuilt Turbo
  • New Aluminum Turbo intakes
  • New Stainless Exhaust
  • New paint it was repainted before I purchased it back to the original color. Paint has some bubbles near the rear window and bumper apron
  • Newer Tires
  • New marker lights
The bad...
  • Has a few electrical bugs to work out from the ALH conversion (vehicle operates as it should but needs some tweaking to make perfect)
  • Odometer is not calibrated correct speed on the swapped Golf Dash Cluster (comes with new Dakota Digital Converter)
  • Passenger Side Electric window switch not functional
  • Check engine light in dash does not correspond with ECU (but has functional OBDII)
  • Needs a tune (see above electrical tweaks)
  • There is a vacuum leak or faulty N75 turbo valve that cuts the turbo out, you can restart the vehicle and it functions correctly (common over boost issue with ALH motors...just don't have time to fix it)
  • Because of the vacuum leak the lockers are not engaging, you can manually apply vacuum and the lockers and decoupler work
  • There is a factory hole from an auxiliary fuel tank in the passenger fender for an aftermarket fuel filler that was removed and not replaced.
  • The AC needs charged
This is a list of the known condition of the vehicle to the best of my abilities. I do not imply any warranty and the vehicle comes as is, it is up to you to determine the full functionality of the vehicle. Please contact me with any additional questions about condition.Get this 90% complete project for a fraction of what this rig is worth when complete. If you know electronics this will be an easy project to finish. I purchase this rig below the price I’m selling it for and I’ve put countless hours and dollars into making it even better. Do to the issues trailering it home would be advised.
