1979 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Convertible

A Survivor & Great Investment

In Storage For 33 Years.If your are reading this ad you know the range of prices for the last model year of the Classic VW Convertibles range from $5000.00 to over $35,000.00 for museum quality examples. If you are like most of us the affordable range is where we want to be so we can actually drive and enjoy our investment . This VW convertible ended up in my garage after many years of looking and research to find one that I could afford and have fun with . During the past few years I have sold my entire collection of motorcycles on ebay and now just have the Beetle. Time has come to pass it on to the next owner and start the search for my next toy. The enjoyment for me has been the opportunity to drive it on sunny days around our neighborhood and have owned a piece of VW history . A brief story about this car -It was built in 09/79 ( see photo ), shipped to the US and purchased in the Atlanta area soon thereafter. It was driven about 5600 miles in the first year by a businesswoman and sold. The second owner enjoyed it for about 300 miles and put it in storage for the next 33 years. I was told the fuel tank and battery were removed and the convertible top was covered and the car placed in an indoor storage area of his business. The owner, (then in his 80’s) decided to sell all four of his Beetles (the other three were never driven and sold to a collector from California). Prior to him listing it for sale he asked his mechanic to replace the following items for the sake of safety and his piece of mind. Based on what I was told the following items were replaced:

* 5 New Tires

* Fuel Pump

* Fuel Filter

* Fuel Hoses

* Battery

* Master Cylinder

* Wheel Cylinders

* Fuel Injector Gaskets

* Fuel Tank Float

During the past few years that I have owned this Beetle I replaced or added the following items.

* EGR Filter

* EGR Connector Pipe & Gaskets

* Rubber Door Centering Wedges

* Chrome Door Wedge Centering Plates

* 4 Piece Carpet Floor Mat Set

* Trunk Carpet (orig. cardboard was lost)

* Rear Stone Guards

* Bentley Official Service Manual (New)

Even though the above items have been replaced the Paint, Convertible Top and Interior are all original along with everything not listed as replaced. A radio was never installed so the dash and door panels look new and the fender antenna plug is still in place. I recently purchased OEM quality replacement cushions (not installed yet) for the rear of the front seats due to the foam shrinking (this seems to be a common issue with these cars). Included will be the original jack, lug wrench, convertible top boot and owner’s manual. This is an unrestored near original Beetle that can be a daily driver, weekend vehicle or local car show toy and also an investment that will only go up in value. I have a 100% Feedback Score so bid with confidence and BID TO WIN ! The reserve is low compared to recent listings nationwide. As noted below the NADA and Hagerty values have a wide range.
