Description:

1991 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

1991 Toyota Landcruiser Prado EX5 LJ-78. This car is right-hand drive. I legally imported it from Japan three years ago. I have valid Oregon title, registration and plates. Title can be transferred just like the title from any car built in the U.S. It is in great shape. With just under 99,500 miles (160,465 kilometers, to be precise) it has a few bumps and bruises, but is in great shape. This Landcruiser has the 2L-TE 4-cylinder diesel motor with turbocharger. The turbo only kicks in when accelerating or pulling a hill (it had a red LED on the dash that lights with the turbo spools up). The motor is sound, with no oil loss or other signs of problems. I have replaced the glow plugs, which helped starting on cold days here in the Oregon mountains. The car has functioning in-cab 4WD and locking hub controls. Tires and brakes are good. Audio is upgraded with Alpine head-unit/CD/AM-FM/aux input and JL Audio and Kenwood Excelon speakers. Electric sunroof works fine with no leaks.
The only body/paint damage is on the front part of the roof, as you can see in the photos. You can't even see the oxidation while standing on the ground. There is a toggle switch inside the car that, according to the icon on it, is for adjusting the suspension, but nothing noticeable happens when it is activated. I drove the Prado exclusively in the winter (it is the best car I have ever driven in the snow, and this is my third Landcruiser) and never used the A/C. Since it's winter now I can't tell if it pumps cold air or not. You may see an area or two on the Prado in some of the photos that appear to be rust. They are not. I live on a gravel road that is rocked with volcanic cinders (you can see the red road in some of the photos), a common practice in our highly volcanic area. The red cinder dust may look like rust, but is not. While there may be a patch or two of surface rust on the frame, there is no rust on the body and no sign of body work that might have been done before I purchased the car. These are the only mechanical issues I have found.
Here is the technical info you probably want:
  • Model - LJ78
  • Engine - 2L-TE 4-cyl turbo diesel
  • It does not have a normal U.S. VIN, so title searches don't work. The designated VIN on the title is LJ780016392.

I received an estimate of $1,800 to ship the Landcruiser to Boston. I can get in touch with a local shipper for better numbers, if you'd like. I will deliver the Landcruiser for free anywhere along the Interstate 5 corridor between Portland and Eugene.
