Description:

1986 Toyota Hilux

Super clean classic 1986 Toyota Hilux regular cab 4x2 pickup truck drives as good as it looks with only 85,700 original miles.
It's a Southern Arizona truck so there's no rust as Tucson is so dry it's where the US Air Force mothballs all their old aircraft. Just Google "US Air Force Boneyard Tucson" for some incredible pics.
This amazing old Hilux features ice cold AC, power brakes, manual steering. It passes emissions in all 50 states.
The legendarily reliable numbers matching 22R (2.4L) runs like a sewing machine. Starts every time with a click of key. Smooth quiet and powerful enough to light up the tires in 1st and 2nd then bark them in third. Always runs cool. All the fluids and all the parts that bolt onto the motor are new. Like aircraft these blocks are famous for being hardened with more nickle content than old American muscle cars.
I just drove this truck home from the shop which buttoned up final details and with my younger buddy following in my 96 Tacoma 3.4L V6 2wd 5 Speed we got side by side on the I-10 Frontage road and raced for a 1/4 mile and this Hilux spanked that Tacoma much to the chagrin of my buddy who fancies himself as a quick driver. I've been immersed in these 22R Toyotas for over 30 years and must confess this is by far the quickest Hilux I've ever experienced, and here's why:
Professional 22R top end engine rebuild with new standard rod & main bearings plus tune with fresh valves and machined head with new RV cam, new timing chain with metal guide guides (versus the stock factory plastic guides which wore out prematurely), new timing chain cover, new water pump & new genuine Weber carburetor. New Denso V6 aluminum radiator keeps it running super cool, plus a new AC Compressor keeps the interior cool.
The manual 4 speed transmission has less than 40 miles on a new clutch disc and pressure plate along with new throwout and pilot bearings plus freshly machined flywheel. Fresh tranny and differential fluid. These 4 speed transmissions are bullet proof. They were much tougher than the 5 speeds and thus preferred by Hornet racers.
Super clean interior. Everything works as designed including ice cold AC. Only the factory radio deck is missing. Has the factory bottle jack and tools in original green canvas bag behind the bench seat. Has new Venetian blind style sun shade installed. Original Toyota owners manual in glove box.
Original rust free Tucson Truck was nicely repainted once some years ago by original owner. No bondo. No rust. Underside is almost as spotless as the exterior. It's basically a one owner truck. Grandfather gave it to grand daughter who tried to refurbish but was overwhelmed with timing chain slap (due to wore out plastic guide) and old carb issues with no funds to fix the AC so I acquired truck and professionally began to sort everything just right, starting with new Denso V6 aluminum radiator, new timing chain with metal guides, new timing chain cover, rebuilt cylinder head with RV cam & fresh 3 way valve grind, new standard size rod and main engine bearings, new clutch disc kit and machined flywheel, new Weber carburetor and then refurbished the AC system with flush, new compressor, new receiver/dryer, new expansion valve, new o-rings and fresh R134a freon conversion.
Of course all the plugs and wires and cap and rotor are all new Denso OEM parts.
Of course every ounce of fluid in every orifice and every filter is new.
I also installed fresh brakes and shocks on all 4 corners so it stops and handles like a race car.
Has 4 newer Michelin radial tires on factory steel 14 inch wheels with aftermarket hubcaps.
All comes with over 3 grand in receipts. That's $3000 US Dollars on fresh documented upgrades.
Since I haven't driven it more than 40 miles I still consider it a one owner truck.
Drives tight like new with absolutely no rattles, no leaks and no mechanical issues.
Spare tire stowed in factory spot under the bed.
Comes with fresh passed AZ emissions slip. Incredibly it blew 0.00 on Co2 and ZERO on Hydrocarbons (HC) LOADED reading, meaning this engine runs so fine and is so perfectly tuned that if you tried sucking the tailpipe it'd be hard to kill yourself!
This truck is also eligible for Collector Car insurance status in any State, meaning emissions are forever waived and a full coverage insurance policy is only $9 per month through outfits like Grundy Worldwide. That's right. Imagine full coverage insurance for less than $100 per year and no more emissions tests!
Clean and Notarized AZ title with "A box" status. Shows 80k miles.
I've kept original AZ plates so truck will come with valid temporary tag permit affixed in plate area.
You be hard pressed to find a nicer example of this truck anywhere except maybe a fancy private collection.
It is over 31 years old so there are some very minor imperfections, like maybe a really tiny paint chip here and there. At the back of the driver's head rest, which can only be seen if you fold the seat forward or look through the rear window there's a seam in the seat fabric that's starting to separate but can easily be fixed with a needle and thread. On the left rear bed panel near the tail light there is a 1.5 inch long paint blister just starting (shown in last picture). But that's it for the cons. An amazing truck to be sure.
I realize some eBay Newbies are nervous about plopping down thousands on a vehicle over the internet that they haven't driven or seen in person but just consider these simple facts. You're not dealing with some fly by night seller or organization with a couple dozen feedbacks. I've got over 12,000 positive feedbacks at 100% for over 17 years on eBay. Think about what those stats mean for a moment? I've got one of the largest Early Bronco collections in the South West. A couple years ago I sold a '69 Holman-Moody Stroppe Bronco that I bought back in 1999 to Proprietor Randy at "Driven Auto Parts" in Phoenix that was so special it wound up getting over $100k in restoration and just won a Concours De Elegance show in Milwaukee,WI last month. You can Google "Driven Auto Parts" for Randy's 800 # to ask him for links to that truck or for my reputation of selling quality used vehicles, that is, I've sold more rust free quality antique Toyotas without complaint than you've probably ever seen simply because rust free Arizona is where they live forever.
Bottom line is this. If after purchase you don't think this truck is as nice as advertised I'll give you your money back because that's how confident I am in the quality of what I sell.
This is a one of a kind antique gem that's tight as can be and hauls serious ass so if you snooze you lose as it won't last long.
