Description:

1981 Porsche 911

This 1981 Porsche 911SC was sold new in California and has spent it's entire life here. It is a two owner and was purchased in 1990. The car is finished in Guards Red over a tan interior, and is powered by a 3.0L flat-six mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car was stored beginning in 1999, and a recent $13k in recommissioning included new fuel system components, a rear main seal, breather hoses, tires, a valve adjustment, and more detailed below. This 911SC is offered with factory literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The exterior is finished in Guards Red with black factory trim on the window surrounds, rockers and bumpers. The trunk and rear decklid appear to have been refinished prior to current ownership and the paint shows minor flaws only.
There are a few small scuffs on the underside of the chin spoiler. The factory 16″ Fuchs wheels feature polished faces and lips, and were recently fitted with new Dunlop Direzza DZ102 tires.
The cabin is upholstered in tan with leather seating surfaces, tan carpets, and a darker dash. Porsche-branded floor mats cover the carpets, and a modern radio is fitted in the factory location. The power antenna is not functional but the stereo does not seem to need it and gets good reception despite it. The air conditioning was converted to r134 refrigerant within the last 100 miles, and the wiring from an old alarm system was removed.
The car has also received a new turn signal switch and repaired instrument lights. The speedometer was replaced by Porsche of West Covina at 1,150 miles, and the change is documented in the warranty booklet. Just over 56k miles are shown, approximately 23k of which were added under current ownership.

The 3.0L flat-six was factory-rated at 180 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels via a Type 915 5-speed manual transaxle. Since removing the car from long term storage it received approximately $13k in servicing, which included updated oil-fed Carrera tensioners as well as the following:

  • Valve adjustment
  • Rear main seal
  • Breather hoses
  • Intake seals and rubber hoses
  • Oil pressure switch
  • Clutch fork seal
  • Airbox
  • Valve cover gaskets
  • Rocker shaft seals
  • Injectors and seals
  • Fuel distributor
  • Fuel cups

  • Muffler gasket
  • Accessory belt
  • Ignition rotor, cap, and plugs
  • Restrictor fittings
  • Oil thermostat o-ring

The car also received an alignment and new the brake master cylinder and front brake pads. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below and show the floors, suspension components, and underside of the driveline.
Factory literature is included, along with a Porsche accessories catalog. A selection of other records and pages from the service booklet are shown in the gallery below.
My standard disclaimer/mantra for any car regardless of service or price: The car is sold with no warranty. You are buying a used car. Eventually every car will break, if you find one that doesn't please let me know. I do my ABSOLUTE BEST to describe accurately the shape of the car, but keep in mind it is impossible to discuss every detail of a car for better or worse. I am not a dealer, we manage private car collections and hope to pass along my passion and fervor for these cars. That said if ever you encounter an issue I do my best to provide advice, direction or even parts if I have them. Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use. That means please do not expect a showroom brand new car. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a car that however is very good condition. This is a nice Porsche of this year, but please just remember that no car is perfect. It is though a clean, very nice Porsche! Please only bid if you intend to buy. If you would like to have an Ebay 3rd party mechanic service check out the car I MORE than welcome it. Please have the car checked out before bidding and not after, if you intend to use that service. And please, if you would like to utilize this service, contact me with more than a couple days left in the auction so we can arrange schedules. Please check your local laws and registration procedures before buying. Buying over the internet can be scary sometimes! I get it, because I am an enthusiast too!! For that very reason, I am more than happy to answer every and any question you may so you know 100% what you are buying. But, please ask any and all questions ahead of purchase! It is impossible to list every pro and con of a car, I am not an inspection service, and my description does not replace one! It is your responsibility as a buyer to do your due diligence and inspect the car. All sales are final, you are buying as-is, the sky is blue, etc, etc. Sorry to have to give the boring speech!
Please feel free to ask any and all questions!!
