Description:

1958 Porsche 356

You are bidding on a 1958 Porsche 1600 coupe. This car has always been a California car until I bought it a couple years ago and had it brought to me in Georgia. The last registration on the rear license plate is 1978. The car has not been driven since then, but was stored inside a previous owner's garage from 1978 until around 2015. This owner apparently owned the car from the mid-'60s until around 2015.

The car is very original and doesn't appear to have had any major damage from accidents. (There is some obvious, fairly minor damage in the front, as seen in the pictures, however.) There are no clips anywhere and it doesn't appear to have ever had any rust repair in the past. This car does not need any repair panels anywhere that I can see. It still appears to have all the original sheet metal, both bottom and top, and everywhere in between, and it is all in very good condition. I tried to show as much of the bottom as possible so you can see how intact it is.

The engine turns over and there is no crusty surface stuff like you sometimes see in cars that have been sitting for a long time. It shifts in and out of all gears and reverse very nicely.

It appears that the original color of the car was a darkish green with a tan interior. The previous owner's son wanted to surprise his father on his birthday in the early '70s and painted the car the gold it is now for him.

I checked the numbers that I was able to locate easily and found that the hood and engine lid both match the VIN. (I didn't remove the door panels to check them.) Also, the 5 wheels are all date-coded around 3/58. Other numbers I located are as follows:

VIN - 103620

Engine # -- 81858

Transmission # -- 19667

I expect payment within 5 days of the end of the auction. The car can be picked up after your check has cleared my bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I can give the name of a good, reliable shipper if you wish. Buyer will be given a Bill of Sale and the California Title I received when I bought the car.
