1966 Pontiac Grand Prix
1966 Pontiac Grand Prix 421 with an HO spec cam. Bucket seats, console, factory air is all there, but not currently working. (Compressor and Brackets go with the car). Brand new brakes and tires. Has electric vacuum brake booster on the brake booster to compensate for the cam. Holley 750 4 bbl. Turbo hydromatic. Really nice car with original rust free body. One repaint, not original engine block, but engine and trans only have 6k miles since rebuild. Starts and runs easily everytime. Great driver and show. Interior is very nice. Has 1967 GP 15 inch rally 2 wheels. Ladder bar trailing arms in the rear with front and rear sway bars. New headliner, carpet, package tray. Has original bias ply spare. 2 1/2 inch magna flow exhaust. 30k views with over 1k likes on a short video post of this cars exhaust! You have heard that people turn their heads to look at certain cars, well this car breaks necks! I wrote a short story about the car below. Hope you enjoy it.The Last Dance
"I drove 14 hours straight on the off chance to see a 1966 Pontiac Grand Prix with the rarest engine option available."
"The car was raced and once the old man got too old to race it, he parked it in a tiny garage behind his house, that I took it out of a decade later."
"Picture a little 85 year old man, hands broken and cut from 70 years of laying bricks for a living. Those hands reaching up almost over his head to grip the old broken lucite steering wheel."
"He turned the key and as the old 421 roared to life, it was as if he reverted back to his 20s again, smiling ear to ear as he jammed it down into reverse. The tires barked backwards, itching for someone to take her out and lay the hammer down."
"We turned down his driveway onto the two-lane pavement and he let her loose. The tires broke free as if they had not been parked for years and as the trans broke into second gear, a small chirp rang out from the rear of the car."
"The old man was audibly laughing now, remembering the good old days and the racing heritage of that big iron 421. Hearts pounding in unison with the blue block beating under the hood, the two of us seemed to lift off into another place, and another time."
"He turned right and, both rear tires shredding, smoke entering the cabin of the old rocket ship, we headed up a hill and I thought we were going to lose control. But the short little man knew his old friend like she was an extension of his own body, and expertly brought her back around."
"80, 90 then we passed 100 miles per hour, eating up pavement and spitting it out behind us in a cloud of leaded exhaust."
"The old man looked over at me and without saying anything I experienced each of the forty thousand miles of memories that were going through his mind. I could see the happiness in his eyes fall as he gazed upon me, the man who was taking this old girl from him, and could see the exact moment he realized this was the last dance with his old yellow friend."
Thanks for going on this adventure with me today. We hope you've enjoyed this glimpse into the obsession that is owning a classic car.
