UP FOR SALE IS MY 1970 GTO CONVERTIBLE.
I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE THE EARLY 1990'S ABOUT 25 YEARS.I LOOKED HARD BACK THEN FOR A 70 OR 71 CONVERTIBLE, AND THEY WERE REALLY HARD TO FIND,AS THERE WAS NO INTERNET. THIS CAR IS ONE OF 2173 CONVERTIBLES MADE WITH THE STD 400 ENGINE. PRETTY RARE AS OVER 40,000 GTO WERE PRODUCED. I HAVE HELD ONTO, AND MOVED THIS CAR WITH ME TO NORTH CAROLINA.ALWAYS WANTED TO RESTORE TO ITS TRUE GLORY,BUT DOESNT LOOK LIKE GOING TO HAPPEN ANYTIME SOON,SO OFFERED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 25 YEARS.
THE CAR RETAINS ITS ALL NUMBERS MATCHING DRIVETRAIN. YS 400 ENGINE,TH400 TRANS, AND 355 POSI REAREND.THE VIN IS VISIBLE ON THE BLOCK,TRANS CASE. HAS THE #13 HEADS,ORIGINAL INTAKE,CARB,AIRCLEANER, EVERYTHING. I EVEN HAVE ORIGINAL BLEEDER SCREW MASTER CYLINDER I JUST CHANGED.ODOMETER SHOWS 89K, I BELIEVE TO BE CORRECT AS WAS OFF ROAD FOR A FEW YEARS WHEN I PURCHASED IT.
AFTER SITTING FOR A FEW YEARS,I REBUILT THE CARB,CHANGED THE GAS TANK,MAIN LINE,FLUIDS AND FIRED HER UP.SHE RUNS GREAT! VERY SMOOTH POWERFULL NO ENGINE NOISE. IT DOES NEED MUFFLERS AND TAIL PIPES. I CHANGED THE WHEEL CYLINDERS ALL FLEX LINES,MASTER CYL,REAREND LINESFOR THE BRAKES.THEY ARE STILL LITTLE SPONGY,GOING TO TRY AND BLEED AGAIN.
THE CAR RETIANS ALL ORIGINAL SHEET METAL,EXCEPT DRIVERS DOOR AND TRUNK LID I EXCHANGED FOR BETTER PARTS OVER THE YEARS.THE FLOORS HAVE SOME RUST FROM THE TOP.(SEE PICS)WORST IS PASS SIDE FRONT ALONG THE KICK PANEL AREA. THE HOOD AND PASS FENDER,RAD SUPPORT-VERY SOLID. DRIVERS FENDER HAS HOLE ON BOTTOM,NOT TO BAD. PASS QUARTER WILL NEED WORK AROUND WHEEL OPENING.DRIVERS SIDE NOT AS BAD. TRUNK FLOOR PRETTY GOOD, WITH ONE STRIP NEEDING REPAIR,PICS WILL SHOW. THE FRAME IS VERY SOLID WITH NO ISSUES.THE DASH AREA AND UPPER COWL IS VERY SOLID(I REMOVED STAINLEESS TRIM BY WIPERS TO SEE) I HAVE OWNED ALOT OF RUBBER NOSE GTO'S OVER THE YEARS,THIS ONE LINES UP EXCEPTIONALLY! I GUESS BEACUSE WAS NEVER MESSED WITH BEFORE.NOSE AND HOOD ARE STRAIGHT WITH NO KINKS.THE TOP IS BAD AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED,I HAVE A NEW ONE OFF AN ABANDONDED PROJECT WITH GLASS BACK WINDOW I BOUGHT A FEW YEARS AGO,HEADER HAS RUST I HAVE ANOTHER THAT GOES WITH CAR ALSO. TOP PUMP WILL NEED ATTENTION, ALL THERE BUT NOT WORKING.

THE CAR REALLY DESERVES A FULL RESTORATION,BUT WITH A DAYS WORK(EXHAUST,SPONGY BRAKES)COULD BE DRIVEN,AND WORKED ON AS YOU DRIVE IT.
CAR WOULD BE BEAUTIFUL BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL PALLADIUM SILVER COLOR ONLY 2394 GTO'S WERE PAINTED THIS COLOR.I INCLUDED A PIC OF ONE DONE ORIGINAL PAINT,STILL VISIBLE IN JAMS.CAR HAD A REALLY BAD CHEAP PAINT JOB BEFORE I PURCHASED IT,MIGHT OF HELPED SAVE IT BETTER. THE PAINT IS POOR,I PUT POR 15 OVER SURFACE RUST SPOTSYEARS AGO, AND JUST BLEW SOME WHITE TO MAKE UNIFORM
