Description:

1966 Plymouth Belvedere II --

Over the decades they were on the market, Belvederes pared down from sizable cruisers to bona fide intermediate muscle cars whose relatively light bodies often pared with expansive powerplants to make them favorites on the track. This 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II captures the model in top asphalt scorching form. It carries a big block under its hood that's fed by one of MoPar's signature carb setups and, with its well turned-out appearance and fresh interior, this is a very complete,... rock solid classic in all respects. The deep blue paint draped over the exterior equips this vintage Plymouth with a vibrant, road-ready look that's amplified all the more by its well-aligned body - the panels really blend together well, resulting in nice even gaps surrounding the doors hood and deck lid, all of which open and shut smoothly. The paint itself presents well -it's got a good shine and a smooth texture. New bumpers at both ends, as well as a collection of exterior trim that's in consistently solid condition add even more to its vitality. Still in thoroughly stock configuration, it's a very appealing ride - its unabashedly squared off form combines with distinctively shaped rear cabin glass and you can clearly see styling cues from generations that both preceded and followed it. The interior has been thoroughly refurbished, so it's really looking strong. The bench seating in both front and back was recently covered with well-fitted black vinyl covers, so the seats show very little wear and the steel surfaces inside the cabin, painted to match the exterior, are in consistently good shape. The door panels have also been replaced, likely along with their hardware, judging from its fresh appearance. The functionality on board here is strong - an aftermarket air conditioning system has been installed to keep everyone comfortable, the windows roll up and down without a hitch and an AM/FM/Cassette stereo stands by to handle your audio needs. Just in front of the factory steering wheel, the dash area is a definite high point - the gauges in the instrument cluster sit behind an unusually clear lens and the pad running across the top shows no signs of any cracking. The spacious trunk area is lined by fresh fabric and you can clearly see just how well-prepped and painted the inner wheelhouses are. That same attention to detail is on display under the hood, where a pair of color matched inner fenders bracket a 440 cubic inch V8, arguably the vintage big block that's most associated with the MoPar name. Its freshly-painted, oblong air cleaner wears badging to serve notice of the six pack carburetion in place to feed the powerplant - made up of a trio of two barrel carbs, this was a coveted configuration back in its day. The 440 exhales into a pair of aftermarket headers to lessen backpressure as they lead to the dual exhaust, out of which comes a nice, deep note with just a tap on the accelerator. A 3-speed automatic Torqueflite transmission sits just behind the engine and shifts with slip free precision - the overall driving condition of this Plymouth is very strong, so it's ready to hit the road and get the fun times started just as soon as you get it home. Power steering makes for easy navigation, while front disc brakes help bring it to a stop with fade-resistant dependability. This vintage Plymouth cruises on a set of 14" steel wheels with black centers that are wrapped with redline tires to properly cap off its appearance. Combining a nicely finished appearance with a signature big block to provide plenty of power, this 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II is a seldom seen classic that provides a great experience behind the wheel.
