This is a nice Mopar that could be driven and/or would make a great restoration project. The motor starts up nicely when cold, but can be difficult to start when warmed up, suggesting it likely needs carburetor rebuild or adjustment. The car drives well and seems to shift smoothly. Breaks work, but have to push down to nearly the floor at which time it stops hard....likely due to not having been driven much in past few years and need to bleed the break lines. Instruments appear to work fine, and the convertible power top works just fine. Windows operate fine, and doors close nicely. The mileage is 22,350, so have to assume odometer rolled over. A small amount of repair will make this car a nice reliable driver.
The body is presentable, but has some rust, scratches, small dents, and paint wear. Also has evidence of lower quarter panel bondo repair. Good candidate for full restoration with metal replacement of lower quarters, and potential fenders behind the front wheels. Rockers seem okay, but may need some repair and/or metal replacement.
Chrome and glass are in pretty good shape, with some pitting and tarnish here and there, but not too bad. Missing "C" molding/trim at rear end tailgate.
The undercarriage and frame seem fine. Has a lot of surface rust and road grime, but seems very solid, as do the floor boards and trunk. The engine compartment is solid, but both engine compartment and engine itself need to be detailed with some repaint.
This is a highly collectible Mopar that can demand a high selling price when restored....and, it is a 383 convertible...when the top goes down, the price goes up! The reserve price on the sale of the car will leave more than enough room to make a profit on the car following a standard restoration.
Please call Paul at 248-573-5013 if you should have any questions. The car is located in Mecosta, MI (approximately a one hour drive from the Grand Rapids, MI airport), and will be available for inspection March 8th thru 10th. A car lift will be available to inspect the undercarriage of the car.
Thank you and go MOPAR!
