The beautiful dark green metallic paint is in superb condition with no major imperfections to be found, ven the most discerning buyer will delight in the exterior presentation of this amazing American made classic.

Inside you will find impeccable and beautifully presented seating surfaces in elegant tan with coffee piping, atching door panels and padded dash board complete the beautiful and luxurious interior. Also featured on the inside are correct gauges including boost pressure gauge, andsome signature brushed metal instrument panel, orrect steering wheel, nd seat belts.

The 1958 Packard Hawk was the sportiest of the four Packard-badged Studebakers produced in the final year of Packard production. The Packard plant in Detroit, ichigan had been leased to Curtiss-Wright (and would be soon sold to them), nd Packard models in this dying-gasp year were all rebadged and retrimmed Studebaker products. The 1958 Packard Hawk was essentially a Studebaker Golden Hawk 400 with a fiberglass front end and a modified deck lid.

Instead of the Studebaker Hawk’s upright Mercedes-style grille, he Packard Hawk had a wide, ow opening just above the front bumper and covering the whole width of the car. Above this, smoothly sloping nose, nd hood—reminiscent of the 1953 Studebakers, ut with a bulge as on the Golden Hawk—accommodated the engine’s McCullochs supercharger that gave the Studebaker 289 in V8 engine a total of 275 bhp. At the rear, he sides of the fins were coated in metallized PET film, iving them a shiny metallic gold appearance. A fake spare-tire bulge adorned the 1953-style Studebaker deck lid. ‘PACKARD’ was spelled out in capitals across the nose, ith a gold ‘Packard’ emblem in script—along with a Hawk badge—on the trunk lid and fins. The interior was full leather (now recovered in durable vinyl), ith full instrumentation in an engine-turned dash. As on early aircraft and custom boats, added armrests were mounted outside the windows, rare touch.

Only 588 of these unique cars were sold, ith Packard’s impending demise a likely contributing factor. Most were equipped with the Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmissions. Studebaker-Packard was the first manufacturer to popularize the limited-slip differential, hich they termed “Twin-Traction”. It was certainly the fastest Packard ever sold, ince it shared the majority of its components with Studebaker’s Golden Hawk.

Its rarity and status as the best-regarded of the “Packardbaker” final-year cars have made the Packard Hawk quite collectible. Values are roughly double those of the equivalent Studebaker, lthough they are still low by comparison with Corvettes and Thunderbirds. Because a Studebaker drive train was used, echanical parts are more readily available. This beautiful example had recently installed new shocks, ront springs, achometer, acuum gauge, xhaust system, runk lining, D stereo. Rebuilt carburetor, heel cylinders, ower brake system with new lines and shoes. The tires have been upgraded to Coker wide white radials, ven the clock was converted to electric by the “Clock Works” of Eagle River, I. Also included are the body, hassis and body parts catalogs along with the original owners manual!
