Description:

1966 Volkswagen Type 3

This Type 3 Fastback runs and drives great!
Clear title in hand.

Breaks- Work very well, had them gone through about a year ago and have put about 300 miles on it since then.
Transmission- Manual transmission shifts very well with little effort and does not pop out of gear, shake or grind.
Engine- Runs exceptionally well and strong for the size it is which I believe is 1500cc. Just had new dual carburetors installed and oil change. On cold start when it has set for 4 or 5 days or longer just pump the gas 4 times and hold pedal down halfway and it fires right up every time. Rolls down the road nice and straight. As with most all of these classic VWs it leaks oil, I check the oil level before each drive and add if needed. As long as you do that I’ve always been good to go.
Body- As pictured. Mostly surface rust that I had clear coated several years ago once it got to the patina I wanted. Under side is solid with the exception of the battery compartment which is common. I’ve got a piece of wood under the battery but I’d recommend have that section fixed if you are going to daily this.
Glass- In good shape although the windshield has started to fog around the edges which again is common, no big deal for years to come. Glass could use new seals especially if it’s going to set outside.
Tires- Plenty of tread on them and do not leak but are about 10 years old.
Interior- Is in excellent shape with carpet, seat vinyl and door panels (which could use some new clips) being about 12 years old. Dynomat (sound deadening/heat blocking) is installed under the carpet. Headliner is in great shape and does not sag anywhere. Will need sun visors and the dash pad is cracked. Gages work with the exception of the clock. Radio does not work.
Lights- Headlights work hi and low beam. Turn signals work. Taillights work.
Have video running and driving but can’t figure out how to upload it. If serious can contact me and I’ll email it or something.
Overall personally I wouldn’t hesitate to drive this one anywhere. Make sure to have a quart of oil in the trunk and start cruising.
Would also make a great base for that winter project if you wanted to stop the oil leak or turn it into a “trailer queen” (Please don’t do that lol)
