Description:

1965 Oldsmobile 442 Chrome

Selling a nice original numbers matching 1965 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 Holiday Coupe. This is a true "numbers matching" car. Everything to validate the car's authenticity is detailed in the pictures. I am the 2nd registered owner of this rare car. I have the original General Motors Protecto Plate that validates the car as real "442". The Protecto Plate also validates all of the original factory options that came with the car when it was purchased new back in 1965. The car has the original 400 (389298B) big block motor "A" embossed cylinder heads. This is a floor shift automatic car with bucket seats. The "CC" on the cowl tag is the paint color code of "Provincial White" the interior is the original black vinyl. "White on Black" makes for a very cool looking color combination. The car is all original right down to the Harrison radiator T-3 headlamps 4GC carburetor and all 5 (including spare) of the factory installed 14x6 "R code" stock steel wheels. Countless labor hours, money and good quality replacement parts over the last 4 years have turned this solid old car into a reliable "turn-key" daily driver that will give the new owner a pride of ownership for many years to come. The car has approximately 92,xxx original miles. The original engine and numbers matching transmission have never been out of the car. It appears that the car has had one repaint... more like a "respray" because in places where the paint has peeled you can see the original paint underneath. Clean California title and current California registration good until November of 2019.Full list of factory/dealer options that came on this car:RPO code list / descriptionD55 - Sports Console (Automatic Transmission)M32 - Jetaway Special-Duty Transmission (442 only)N40 - Roto-Matic Power SteeringN95 - Simulated Wire Wheels (14")A01 - Soft Ray Tinted Windshield & WindowsA49 - Deluxe Front Seat BeltsB93 - Door Edge Guard Molding'sC14 - Windshield Washer & 2 Speed WipersJ50 - Pedal-Ease Power BrakesK20 - Crankcase Ventilation (California Cars Only)T86 - Backup Lights442 - Performance PackageU63 - Deluxe Push Button RadioU35 - Electric ClockY60 - Option - Convenience Accessory Group (Ash Tray, Glove Compartment, Luggage Compartment and Underhood Lamps. Not a lot but there are droplets on the concrete.Rust. The car has some rust underneath the lower windshield trim and some surface rust on the trunk floor (see pictures for details)Interior is the original. Unrestored. Drivers seat is worn & torn, carpet is worn. The original black dash pad appears to be in excellent condition. The steering wheel has some cracking around it.Glass. Windshield has a small chip towards the center but it is not cracked. All the other windows are good.Trim. Stainless trim is in excellent condition... no dents dings or damage as far as I can tell. Chrome dipped trim like the hood spear has some surface cracks on the chrome finish. The chrome dipped trim around the vent windows has some pitting & can definitely use a rechrome. Lower aluminum trim moldings could use a good cleaning & touch up on the black paint in the center.Electrical: headlights, interior lights, turn signals, brake lights, high beams, trunk light, am radio, speedometer, fuel gauge (sender), cigarette lighter all work perfectly. The tic tac clock does not work. The factory tachometer works sometimes. All doors lock & unlock. One key for the ignition, one key for the doors & trunk. One key for glove box door & for the lock on the floor console door.I am trying to be as honest as i can but i know I'm probably missing something so feel free to ask. This is a solid running car that you can work on while you drive it. Definitely something that will increase in value over time.Thank you
In 1965 Oldsmobile increased the horse power and engine displacement of the 442 to compete with the other cars in the GM mid sized class like the Pontiac GTO The Chevrolet Chevelle El Camino super sport Malibu SS and the infamous Buick GS350 GS400
