Description:

1977 Nissan Patrol

Recently we've featured quite a few Toyota FJ40 Land Cruisers and a few of the British Land Rovers but we're guessing that you've never seen a 1977 Nissan Patrol at least not here in the US. As rough and tough as its other world-exploring competition this lovely restored Patrol is almost too pretty go to out and play in the dirt. Nah who are we kidding you wouldn't waste a second before going out and having some fun!The Patrol has that same slab-sided look that was specifically designed to be easy to manufacture and easy to repair in the field that the other international off-roaders wear. However it's definitely got its own look that's almost a combination of the Land Cruiser and Land Rover. It's definitely eye-catching because it's at once familiar and different and you'll enjoy spending some time getting to know the fresh faced Patrol in all its details. It was comprehensively restored within the last six years and looks fantastic wearing the low-maintenance beige paint that you see in all the movies and TV shows based in Africa. Simple fenders cover the knobby off-road tires and there's a heavy-duty front bumper with fog lamps mounted in durable plastic housings as well as side mirrors way up front. A rear-mounted spare tire dominates the view in back but there's also a cool little taillight and twin doors that swing open sideways for access to the rear passenger compartment. Yes it's familiar but it's so different that it inevitably attracts a lot of attention everywhere it goes and it's all in beautiful condition. As expected the interior is basic but is beautifully finished. The bucket seats are plush and all-day comfortable while being wrapped in durable vinyl that'll probably outlast us all. Floor coverings are rubber so you can hose it out after playing in the field but things like the padded door panels make it feel a bit more luxurious than its competitors. Familiar controls and gauges are big and easy to use while the shifters for the transfer case and 4-speed manual transmission are within easy reach. Of course there is no radio but it does have a remarkably powerful heater/defroster unit and the folding soft top makes things like A/C superfluous. The rear cargo area will probably seat four maybe six in a pinch and will carry all your gear to some of the most remote places imaginable. The green top is in excellent condition and seals up rather well and you can just imagine the stir this truck will cause at the next 4x4 gathering.A 4.0-liter inline-six provides silky smooth power and unbeatable reliability in the field. Rebuilt and detailed for show the engine bay looks better than new in every way from the oversized air cleaner to correct hose clamps and markings used throughout. Service access is easy and while the Patrol isn't familiar here in the US parts don't seem to be particularly difficult to find. It starts easily and pulls the truck around with easy making for a fun experience even on pavement. The entire chassis was restored at the same time so it's nicely detailed and shows only minor signs of use and it's all stock so reliability is uncompromised. A correct single exhaust gives it a great trucky sound and the ride is firm but not abusive so you can drive it every day if you'd like. The 4-wheel-drive system is heavy-duty and fully rebuilt and it looks exactly right sitting on those heavy-duty steel wheels with proper 7.50-16 off-road tires.Unusual and fun this Nissan Patrol gets you entry into some of the most exciting off-roading events where it will definitely cause a stir. And to find one restored to this level is a genuine treat. Call today!
