Description:

1972 MG MGB

1972 MGB Presented is a 1972 MGB. I purchased this vehicle, along with two parts cars, in 2007 with the intent of restoring it myself. I ended up having the car professionally restored over a three year period. This was a complete, open checkbook (in excess of 60K), rotisserie restoration and the vehicles pristine condition reflects that. The original goal was to have a vehicle that was better than new from the factory and was capable of being driven daily or on extended road trips with maximum reliability. Life moves on and health issues force me to part with the car. The car was taken down to bare metal. All rust was removed and repaired. The floor pans were replaced as well. The car was refinished in the original Mallard Green as is reflected on the BHMC certificate. I chose to use a tan top rather than the original black. The interior is fitted with a tan that I preferred over the original Autumn Leaf color. The seats were replaced with new aftermarket leather seats. Rather than have a modern stereo in place of the radio, I had the new stereo installed in the glove compartment and put a blanking plate in the original opening. I also replace the steering wheel with a new wood and chrome steering wheel. The horn button is NOS. My goal was to have the interior changes be in line with what may have been done in 1972. The car is fitted with Mini-Lite wheels that I think look terrific. I did not replace the windshield as it has a 1982 Georgia Inspection sticker, which was the year I graduated college. Problems were discovered with the original engine block and the engine from one of the parts vehicles was determined to be in much better shape. The engine, transmission and overdrive were professionally rebuilt. The exhaust system was replaced with a stainless steel Falcon exhaust system. The wiring harness was replaced as well. During restoration, the decision was made to coat the underneath in bed liner material as I live on the Gulf Coast and felt this would protect the car undercarriage in inclement weather, again done with an eye toward making the car as usable as possible for every day use. As the photos show, all shocks were rebuilt. All in all one of the best “over” restorations you will find. Includes full restoration documentation and restoration photos as well. Also, this car has apparently been registered in Alabama for over 40 years. Prior to 1975, Alabama did not have a title law so the vehicle is sold on bill of sale and registration only. I have run NICB check as well as a check with Bumper and there are no irregularities shown. I have had the car registered in my name/business name since 2007.
