Description:

1969 Mercury Cougar White

1969 Mercury Cougar 2-Door. 351 Windsor. Fully running and drivable. 45K Miles Clear Title Everything Works. Always maintained and serviced. Ready to drive. It may not be a “showpiece”, since the paint—although quite good—is not new and super shiny—but it’s a great driver and looks pretty darn nice overall. The body and molding has some minor dings here and there.

Vehicle Details

1969 Mercury Cougar - Before me, it was the same family owner since new. I purchased it less than a year ago,but my circumstances have changed, and I need to sell it. 45K Original Miles. Runs And Drives Great.

Please read the entire post if you are truly interested and have questions. Most are answered here.

351 Windsor (I know, I know…).

First of all, it runs great. I have videos and sounds of it running. Starts right up.

Runs, drives, and shifts great.

It is currently valid and registered in California through 10-24-2025.

Always garaged.

Clear title and current registration in hand.

There are some minor dings and dents, but nothing bad. Please see pictures. The doors, hood, and trunk all open and close well. One door needs to be closed hard to close fully, but that can be adjusted. Those small orange spots on the paint do appear to be light surface-rust spots.

It appears to have a bit of bodywork or re-painting on the right rear roof post.

All locks and ignition work well.

The A/C works and blows cold. We drove it today (10-04-24) and it was 100° outside, but inside the car it was cool and comfortable, while the engine temp remained normal.

Power steering and brakes work well.

The headlight doors open and close well and as they should.

The tires are newer and have very little wear on them. No cracks.

The interior is in amazing condition. No tears or damage, and the headline is in amazing condition too—as is the dashboard.

Unfortunately, the clock is not working. :(

We looked all around—including in the trunk—and could not see any rust (except the spots in the paint, but the body has no big rust).

All windows, knobs, and compartment latches function well. The seats slide well and the seat backs fold forward as they should too.

It has fully-functional seatbelts and factory shoulder harnesses. All factory-installed.

Again, it has been garaged its entire life.

The battery in it is a newer battery. It cranks nicely and sounds very healthy.

All features seem to work. The radio works great, with no crackling when turning the knobs. The fan works, the interior and dashboard lights work, the trademark dual-horn works (and it’s one of those squeeze-wheel horns—anywhere you squeeze on the wheel make it honk—it’s actually pretty logical). The turn signals work, but the rear ones don’t do the cougar-famous sequential blink. They blink, but not all three bulbs, and a little faster than normal. Maybe it’s just some bulbs or relay, but I don’t know for sure. Headlights and high beams work great.

I have years of service records, including the original owner’s manual and plastic ID card they give to the owner. It was purchased new by the owner’s mother and she later gave it to her son, who owned it until his death this past April. I also have the “Monroney Sticker” for it (purchased new for $4,226.70 (before tax, of course).

I tried to run a Carfax on it, but it gave me an error, saying it needs more digits, but the VINs on this era of vehicle had only eleven digits.

The windshield is in great condition, with no chips or cracks that I could detect.

The chrome bumper in the rear especially has pit marks. Please see pictures. But they are straight.

The service records show the miles are original.

Comes with its original keys.

No smog certificate is required, of course, since it’s prior to the smog-needed year.

Buyer is responsible for all shipping and transportation, including logistics and all costs. I am willing to asssit in any way I can, and will make myself available pretty much at any time for meeting the driver.
