Description:
1978 Mercury Grand Marquis
I am offering up for sale my 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis. This is an absolutely beautiful car that is a complete joy to drive. This 78 Merc is in great condition inside and out. It is 100% original and un-touched! The car is a two door hard top, it hasthe 400 cubic inch (6.6 Liter) Cleveland V-8 with a C-6 automatic transmission. There is on;y91,652 miles on it. ThisMercury is completely loaded. It has every available option (except a sun-roof). It has: factory air conditioning, cruise control, power seats, hidden headlamps, fender skirts, power disc brakes, electronic trunk opener, power windows, power locks, tilt steering wheel, power seats, and an AM/FM/Radio with cassette player. The interior is in great shape. The exterior is in perfect condition with only very minimal rust showing on the rocker panels. The car runs and drives nice. It is stored inside. (The previous owner kept this car garaged also)**The grand Marquis was introduced in 1975 as a luxury trim line after the Monterey series was dropped. All of the full-size Mercury's carried the Marquis namesake through 1978. '78 was the last year of 'the big Mercs'- as the cars were down-sized in 1979. **
I bought this carfrom an estate sale in South Dakota. As far as I can tell, this car is 100% original in every way. There are a lot of factory markings still clearly visible on this car: the hand-written #611 on the driver's side frame rail, #7138 stamped in yellow on the driver's side valve cover, the words "PAINT OK WILLIAM" are stamped in white on the inside of the left fender, and on the front right underside of the hood. There is a sticker on the trunk from a car dealership in Ellendale, ND. It is quite possible that this car spent it's entire life in this area. The fact that it is a 37 year old true survivor is remarkable!! This is a great automobile that drives like new. Just imagine rolling up to your next family gathering, business meeting, or golf outing in this iconic classic. Not only does this beauty turn heads, but it also implies elegance and demands respect. A true piece of American history that deserves a great home!
