Up for auction is a 1967 Mercury Cougar that I purchased from the original owner. The title is still in the original owners name, it’s s true one owner car. This car is an “A” Code 289 4bbl car that was purchased new in Los Angeles, California and spent it’s life there until the original owner moved to florida in the late 90’s. This cougar is solid as a rock. It is a good driver, not a show car. It was repainted several years ago and the paint is very driver quality. There are blemishes which I have photographed, please review all photos as there are nearly 100.

I have some good paperwork with this car including the original owners manual with original owners name on it. I also have the original owners owners protection plan card. I was able to document almost every year registration with the exception of a few years since the car was bought new intro the early 2000’s when it was parked in the garage.

This car was ordered healthily with factory air, power steering, power brakes, center console, deluxe interior, hideaway headlights, and bucket seats. This car still retains the factory SMOG set up which along with the AC, does not have a belt on it. The undercarriage is as good as you will find, free of any rust. The doors are in excellent shape and shut with ease, no rust on bottoms or undersides. This car just went through a thorough mechanical update totaling nearly $3000 on mechanicals:

NEW: fuel tan, tires, battery, coil, distributor, fuel pump, fuel filter, plug wires, plugs, fuel lines, carburetor, master cylinder, power brake booster, wheel cylinders, brake hoses, and rear brake shoes. This work was completed on 6-1-16 and I have receipts to show.

The car runs great when it warms up, it does not like to idle in gear when cold for some reason. Once it gets up to temperature it runs great. It has great power and the transmission shifts well and hard. The power steering works well as do the brakes. The air is not hooked up nor is the SMOG as mentioned above.

All the little things seem to work on this car, the interior lighting, horn, all exterior lighting, backup lights, glove box door, all gauges, radio, etc… The chrome isn’t great and has hazed over the years. Please look at all photos, I have photographed a few paint blemishes including spots in the paint on the hood and trunk, paint blemish in the roof, some caulking around rear window, incorrect window fuzzier on both doors, etc…

The car is an excellent project or driver, which ever you are looking to do.It can certainly be used as a daily driver or purposed for a frame off restoration. The car is complete, not lacking much.It has great pedigree and is a pretty rare find as a factory 4bbl car.
