Description:

1980 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series

1984 Mercedes Benz 500 SELExcellent Preserved ClassicEuro Model
This might be one of the best preserved 500SELs in the country. It is absolutely nearly flawless example of THE car of the era, the mighty 500SEL. This was the one only sold in Europe and not brought to the US, but this one was and is highly preserved example of it. It has even been recognized by the Mercedes club as a top example in the preservation class.
The EXTERIOR of the car is in excellent shape. There is nothing really to pic here for the age and miles of the car. If you look close, you will find a minor rock chip or small scratch, but you need to really hunt for those. There is a small, and I mean small, spot on the rear above the taillight, but that's the only example of issues I see on the exterior. It shows beautifully, shines well, and for original paint, is in excellent shape for the years and miles.
The INTERIOR of the car is in excellent shape. There is also noting to pick here as there are no real flaws to the interior. It hardly looks to have been used, let alone be 35yrs old. All electronics work as you would expect. Carpets are like new as they had several layers of mats. Rear reclining seats (yes I did not realize they had them in 1984) work as do the seat heaters. Has original first aid kit and full tool set as well. Original spare looks to be used.
The MECHANICS of the car is also excellent. Starts, runs and drives like it should with no issues. Does not leak fluids and in our time having the car has never left us stranded or not starting. It is a real joy to drive on the open road and frankly one of my favorite cars. It reminds me of my youth with the poster of "justification for higher education" though that was an SEC model.
Overall, this is a highly preserved and well maintained example of the classic and rare 500 SEL. This would be perfect in any collection or just driven and enjoyed. It looks and drives like a car with 150k LESS miles. It was such a nice example I actually thought the miles were incorrect as it was so nice. If disappointed with the car when you see it, don't buy it. I'll gladly keep it.
