Description:

1978 Mercedes-Benz Unimog 416 Unimog 416 Doka L34 Tipper

This 1978 Mercedes-Benz Unimog 416 Doka is a former Swedish fire truck that was imported by the previous owner to the US in 2007. Power comes from a 4-stroke 5.7L diesel inline-six mated to a manual gearbox with 8-forward and 4-reverse gears. The truck is an L34 long-wheelbase example optioned with Super Fast axles and forestry skid protection. The fire-body was removed in favor of a 3-way tipper bed with hydraulics, and accessories include a snorkle and rock guards. The odometer now shows 40k kilometers (~25k miles), which translates to approximately 1069 engine hours. Recent servicing included rebuilding the starter, installing a new battery, and changing assorted fluids. This Unimog Doka is now being offered with a clean title.
The truck is finished in it's original color and dings are noted throughout the body. The long-wheelbase L34 spec truck features a 3-way tipper bed with a 5 stage hydraulic cylinder and a 2″ light duty receiver hitch.
The 6-lug steel wheels wear Continental MPT 81 commercial-grade tires with balancing beads installed.
The interior has been sprayed with Lizard Skin ceramic sound deadening material.
The naturally-aspirated four-stroke diesel displaces 346 cubic inches and features direct injection. Factory output was rated at 126 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. Power is feed through an 8-speed manual gearbox with 4-reverse gears. The engine has been run a total of 1069 hours.
The seller reports that this truck is equipped with optional Super Fast axles, which include high-speed ring, pinion, and hub gears allowing the truck to cruise at speeds in excess of 60 mph.
