PLEASE NOTE THAT AS OF TODAY 7/29/2019 I HAVE REDUCED THE PRICE OF MY CAR TO 1800 DOLLARS BUY IT NOW. THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER PRICE REDUCTIONS. I'D RATHER KEEP IT THAN SELL IT FOR ANY LESS. BUY IT, FLY IN AND DRIVE IT HOME! THINK ABOUT IT.
For sale is a gas powered 1984 M.B. Model 200 with a 4 cylinder 2.0 liter engine that rates at 101 horsepower. These cars were not sold in the USA or Japan when new. This one was imported by a U.S. military service member who was stationed in Germany back in the Eighties. It runs and drives excellent, and I have been consistently using this car as a daily driver until very recently. I love this car and I get a fair amount of compliments from strangers when I am about the area, but I'm more of a convertible type guy and I went ahead and bought myself a 2005 Ford Thunderbird to start using as my daily driver from now on, hence I really have no use for this car as a driver any longer and that's why it's for sale. I have always changed the oil at around 3000 miles. Runs and drives great! Mercedes Benz series 123 cars are legendary for their well deserved bullet proof status and this one still lives up to that standard! This is the best era of M.B. build quality, and that is why these cars have lasted so long.
This is a fairly loaded Model 200, as most I have seen on the internet don't have AC, or automatic transmission or electric windows!
Cold AC, warm heat. Climate control functioning just fine.
No electrical issues. All lights, exterior and interior, and gauges are operating at 100%, even the clock still keeps great time!
I recently replaced the old cassette radio that had croaked with a CD player radio installed from Best Buy. The rear speakers are not working however. The front ones are fine.
The vacuum door and trunk and gas tank door locks are all functioning at 100%.
Only the right rear window doesn't function. I can press the switch and I hear nothing. All other electric windows are operating just fine.
Beautiful color combination of silver blue with a cream interior.
Seats, headliner, door panels and rugs are all in clean original condition still. Seats are still firm and comfortable with no weird sagging. Dash surface has a few very minor age cracks in it.
All glass is in good shape still.
The windshield wiper squirting water motor will need to be replaced. It barely squirts water at this time.
There is a bit of rust bubbling up under the paint on the lower rear quarter panels on both sides. The right is a bit worse than the left side. Otherwise, the rest of the car appears to be rust free. Solid floor pans too.
Chrome is still in decent driver condition overall. The rims could stand a re-chroming to look their best. Front bumper has been touched up a bit.
The paint is still in fair condition except the roof where it is getting a bit thin in the middle as you can see in the photos. This is the original paint, so its had 35 years of wear and tear to date. I call this car a "20 footer" at the moment as it could stand to have the rust repaired and the car repainted in its original beautiful silver blue again, and it would be well worth the effort as the new owner would have a scarce in the USA and beautiful 123 series Model 200 to use!
The engine and automatic transmission are functioning at 100%. There are no weird engine or drive-train noises to report, and it doesn't appear to use any oil between changes! Steering and braking are still 100%. Tight steering and even stopping ability. Never overheats even in traffic with the AC on, and oil pressure reading are still just fine!
Tires still have about 90% tread remaining. Even tire wear, nothing odd going on.
Current Virginia state inspection good until February 2020.
Fog lights are function just fine.
I can confidently drive this car about anywhere. I have driven many times on 300+ mile journeys and never been stranded once!
Comes with extra parts that I will leave in the trunk for the next owner in a large box. Those things include in part, one replacement euro style headlight lens, a replacement climate control unit, a replacement electric fan, two extra Mann air filters, and lots of miscellaneous switches, fuses, and whatnot. I will also include a new M.B. Model 200 shop book in English. The owners manual however is all in German and I couldn't source up a Model 200 owners manual in English!
I possess a clear Virginia title for this vehicle in hand.
Car is located in the small city of Roanoke Virginia which is located in the west side of Virginia near interstate I-81, zip code here is 24016.
PLEASE NOTE: The proper VIN number for my Mercedes Benz is the following: WDB1232201A140291
