*please read this*
We had this vehicle appraised and have done our best after that point to sort through a garage of parts to find what else might go with the vehicle.
WE CAN TRY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS BUT WE KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT CARS.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THIS IS NOT OUR HOBBY, WE ARE SELLING A VEHICLE THAT BELONGED TO A FAMILY MEMBER WHO HAS PASSED AWAY.
what you see in the photo's and video is included.
VERY IMPORTANT - we can offer NO help physically moving the car or items at the time of pick up, sorry.
i am recovering from a partial tear in my arm and can't risk moving heavy items.
please be aware of this and have a way to move the items and vehicle body.
we have a long driveway that you may not be able to back a low bottom trailer into.
if you need to bring spare wheels to put on or whatever need be done, please plan for this.

info from the owners: ( LOTS OF VIDEO FOOTAGE AND PHOTOGRAPHS BELOW! )
we know very little about cars, as mentioned above this is being sold due to someone passing away.
photographs have been taken of what's included. i know for sure there are items that do and don't belong with it.
i can't spend any more time sorting through the garage so what you see is what you get.
upon pickup you can NOT search through our garage. (we had someone do this without asking on a previous sale.)
the items shown that are car parts are what's included. things unrelated like lawn mowers etc tools are not included.
Please see my high quality video for a better look at the car. ebay's picture limit is low, and the video shows many more.
it also shows the engine turning over. i vaguely remember when this engine was restored, then it sat due to too many projects.
transmission i believe was also re-done but they were never put back into the vehicle.
assorted parts: lots of assorted parts are included. many of which i know are for the car, some i am unsure of and just made a guess.
we have sold a 1920's harley, 2 1950's indian motorcycles, a 1967 jaguar xke, and a Lotus 7 from this same garage.
some of the parts MIGHT be for one of those. we also have a Rene Bonnet yet to sell.
i have done my best at sorting through everything and can do no more.
pick up will be done from our house in 60515 illinois.
Here is the appraisal company's information.
The Park Avenue Company - Vehicle Appraisal
1970 Lotus Elan S4 DHC
Body and exterior condition:
The body is complete and painted in primer. Fender flares, hood louvers, and other modifications have been performed, and negatively affect the value. To restore the body will require many hours of labor before it can be painted.
Interior and trim:
Overall condition is poor, with many items in need of replacement or reupholstering.
Frame, engine, and mechanical:
The frame and suspension appear to be complete. They are reasonably clean; but the body should be lifted off the frame to inspect the backbone for rust. This is a significant area for expense if repairs or replacement are needed. The engine is a Weber head example, which is desirable even if not original to the car. No attempt was made to see if it turns over; (we later did this and it turns over fine see video) but engine was in dry storage in the garage. At a minimum, the wheels will need refinishing and new tires.
Summary and valuation:
Overall this vehicle is in need of much work and expense. It has a good basis for a race car; but a restoration to stock condition would be very difficult. Since the car has a Weber engine, a complete body and frame, as well as a chassis plate, there is still value. We have a used Black Book CPI, Sports Car Market Pricing Guide, Kelley Blue Book, and recent auction results as well as personal experience to help determine the value of this example. We estimate the fair market value of this vehicle to be $12,000 to $14,000 as of May 2, 2016.
