1979 Lincoln Mark Series Collector's Series
It is with a heavy heart that I am selling my 1979 Lincoln Mark V Collector’s Series Coupe. This is one RARE Lincoln. The Collector’s Series was an expensive option that Lincoln offered in commemoration of the last year of the “big Lincolnsâ€. All Lincolns were downsized in 1980. This is one of only 197 Mark V’s built in Diamond Blue Moondust Metallic.
This is a strong running Mark with only 49,000 miles. It drives great and the transmission shifts smoothly. I serviced and retrofitted the Air Conditioner to R-13 and it blows Ice Cold. This rare classic is a pleasure to drive year round.
I would call this car a very nice to excellent “driver / survivorâ€. The car was re-sprayed in the original color a few years back and looks very nice with a great shine and not a bit of fading. The body panels are straight as an arrow. The chrome is original and has a great shine. It's not perfect, but it’s too nice to re-plate. The stainless is in very good to excellent condition as well. All glass is in great condition. The car is riding on four almost new white wall tires.
The interior is very good to excellent original. The seats have not been reupholstered! The plush dark blue velour upholstery is beautiful with no rips or tears. The headliner and door panels are all original and in great shape. The Collector’s Series offered a dash pad made of genuine leather. There is minor shrinking of the leather dash pad where it meets the windshield, but it isn’t really noticeable. The carpeting is also original and in excellent condition. All of the power options work, except the power door locks work on only the driver’s side. This Mark is equipped with a Power Moon roof. I have not tried to open up the moon roof, however. Lastly, the clock works! This is highly uncommon for a car this age.
The Collector’s Series trunk is as plush as the interior and is in excellent condition. All surfaces including the inside of the deck lid are carpeted. In the trunk, you will find the tool set that came with the Collector’s Series and the very rare garage door opener with the Lincoln Emblem.
The engine compartment is clean. It could use some sprucing up for judging. It doesn't bother me as is and I think it looks just fine.
This is a very rare classic luxury car that will only appreciate in the future. It runs and drives great. I have done maintenance on it, and corrected some minor issues that I inherited with the car. The new owner will have a great investment that will give him as many care free miles as he desires!
I'm selling my Mark V because my collection has grown and I need to thin it out! It's time for someone else to enjoy this great Very Rare Lincoln. Since owning my Lincoln, I have attended several car shows throughout the state and don't hesitate to put it on the interstate. I love showing it, and because it's so unique and HUGE, it always draws a crowd. It has been a consistent winner at car shows and cruise-ins!
I am located in Lafayette, Louisiana. This is a good location for shipping as Interstate 10 and Interstate 49 meet here. Please email me with any questions at dlmmds@cox.net or call me at (337) 298-5322.
