1948 Lincoln Sedan

1948 Lincoln Sedan

Sold on a Bill of Sale Only. It does not have a title.

Originally the personal vehicle of Ford Motor Company President Edsel Ford, the Lincoln Continental was born into greatness. The first generation model officially hit the streets in 1939 and was available as a coupe or convertible. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor and the United States' entry into World War II, the Continental halted production from 1942 to 1946. 1948 saw the end of the first generation of the luxury car, but it didn't go out without leaving its mark. The 1948 Lincoln Continental was the last car in the United States to boast a V12 engine.

For consignment a barn find version of the V12 now called the Sedan. Clean lines and beautiful design that changed how we look at cars forever, especially in this era.

Exterior
Black paint has long since faded to a gray patina, and showing rust in various areas. Chrome is there on the grille, but the bumpers have succumbed to rust invasion and have lost most of their plating. The drivers front fender has lost a light, bezel and turn signal. Grille is pitted and shows signs of rust. Panels and gaps are not too bad, save for the passengers fender which has a large dent. Glass is all there, and trim still exists throughout the cars exterior. Interestingly enough the car has flared doors, which was a trait a lot of Cadillacs of this era had that were from custom coach builders.

Interior
Unfortunately needs a total redux, but the good news is you can do whatever you want! Be creative!

Drivetrain
Currently this car does not have an engine (which would have been a V12). The transmission is retained and is hanging in its original home in the car.

Lots of TLC, and a creative restorer, and you will have a very fine V-12 car that influenced car design for years to come, all here at Classic Auto Mall in our barn find area.
