For Sale: 1994 Defender 90 NAS, Manual Transmission, Hard TopThis is one of 1,943 Land Rovers sold in the US in 1994, and one of an even smaller number that sold with a factory hard top. The official designation was 1994 D90 NAS special POE hardtop. It was originally configured with only the two front seats, and an empty cargo space. I purchased 4 jump seats from Rovers North and had them professionally installed. Otherwise it is stock. It has the cool touches of the 1994 models - the two-pane sliding windows on the front doors, the key + pushbutton start under the dash. Of course it has the stock V8 which passed a compression test in 2015 with flying colors. I have invested over $15,000 in the past two years, but at this stage I seldom use it (except for picking up the Christmas tree, or the occasional run up to the islands with my sons). It is time for a new owner.
This vehicle has 217,000 miles on it. Cosmetically, it is rough, in a charming way (I think). When I pull up at a restaurant or shop, people always come over to talk about the car. It is classic Land Rover green with white top, and the roof rack and grill guard look just right. There is some rust, but the body panels are in good shape and it is a reliable runner. I have carefully documented the vehicle with a lot of photographs to give you as clear an idea as possible of the condition of every aspect of the truck. The previous owner put lights on the roof and made some other changes that I undid, but there is some mystery wiring in the cabin. The heater works, haven't tested the AC.
There is a Warn XD9000i Winch mounted on the bumper. Controller is in the console. The motor buzzes but doesn't turn - probably needs new brushes. I may have time to fix that before it sells.
Don't buy this vehicle if you want to show off a pristine example of a well-preserved Land Rover. Buy it if you want to won a solid copy of a classic, now discontinued iconic vehicle, that looks like it was used for exactly what it was made for.
Listed locally and on eBay.
Not in a hurry to sell it, not interested in endless debates about cosmetic issues. You can buy this vehicle for less than half of what a perfect one would sell for.
