Description:

1957 Jeep FC170

Super Rare 1957 Jeep FC170!
Now's your chance to own a first-year Jeep Forward Control FC170 4x4 Truck!

It's a project in-progress but most of the hard work has been done! Body, paint, engine & drivetrain rebuild has been completed.
I bought this Jeep last year from a local estate sale where a family sold off a huge collection of automobiles that their father had accumulated before passing away. He purchased it from another local person in March of 2020, at which time it appeared to be in all original, complete condition. I have a print out of the local classified ad from that time, which show a few pictures of what it looked like (I've included one of those pics in this listing for reference), as well as the Bill of Sale for that transaction as well as an FC parts book, photocopied service manual and some other documentation that will be included in the sale. I don't know anything about the history of the vehicle prior to then.
From that point, the Jeep was totally stripped down, body and paint work were professionally completed and are of a high quality. The original Super Hurricane 226 cubic inch inline 6-cylinder engine was rebuilt and everything else was stripped down, painted, rebuilt / put back together sometime between March 2020 and 2023 when I purchased it. What you see in the pics is how I got it and what you get.
One of only 3100 FC170 built in 1957.
Total production numbers for all Jeep FC170s were very limited. For the total production run between 1957 and 1965 there were only: 16,585 built.

Current Condition:

  • Missing all the cab glass: Everything but the windshield is flat glass and can be cut by any competent glass shop or are available pre-cut from online suppliers. New gaskets and mouldings for all the glass, including windshield, are available from aftermarket suppliers. Windshields are still manufactured in USA by Pilkington and maybe others?
  • Missing Seats and interior: The seat shown in the picture is just set in place and loose in the truck. Original seats and interior parts other than what is shown in the pics are missing.
  • Needs Distributor: We've tried to get the engine running. It cranks over easily, but the points keep shorting out / burning up almost immediately. My mechanic suspects there's something wrong within the distributor causing a short circuit through the points and I was planning to just buy a new electronic upgrade distributor, which are readily available as an upgrade for this engine, to replace it but never got that far. FYI, the original distributor is an Autolite IAT-4206B. I can't guarantee it but I believe that replacing this should resolve the engine start issue.
  • No Box / Deck: It will come as a cab and chassis. No one knows what happened to the box that was originally on it in 2020, so the new owner will need to either source a box or build a flat deck.
The serial number stamped into the frame (as shown in one of the pictures) is: 11465This indicates that it is a 1957 FC170. The original data plate that would have had the full body code / vin combination (61568-11465) is missing but a new reproduction un-stamped data plate is included with the Jeep.

I can only sell this with a bill of sale as in it's current condition I have no way of registering it / producing a registration for it. You'll have to investigate what's needed in your province or state to get it registered or titled. If you are contemplating importing it to the USA, it should be relatively easy since it is in excess of 25 years old, but you'll have to be able to do so without a Canadian registration. I can refer you to transport / import companies that I've used before for USA - Canada import & export if you like.

Current Location is just outside of Edmonton, Alberta. I am more than happy to assist in any way I can with cooperating / being available for any shipping arrangements that you make.
Canadian Purchasers: We can transact in Canadian Dollar equivalent of the $US listing price for the purchase if you like. I'm limited to having to list here in $US
$1000.00 Deposit due within 24 hours of end of auction. Balance within 2 weeks or upon vehicle pickup, whichever is first.
