Description:

1991 Honda Accord EX

91 Honda Accord EX wagon. ORIGINAL / LOW MILEAGE

Here is a low-mileage 4th gen accord - All original, with minimal rust & great potential, in spite of a few issues. It’s got strong bones, and is a perfect platform for resto / mod, race or whatever you dream up. Clean NJ title. Runs and drives, Issues needing attention are detailed below.

I owned the car for a few years; it had 112K when I got it. It was my daily driver. During that time, I did transmission fluid change (twice), regular oil changes (synthetic), replaced ignition coil and ignitor, plugs & wires. I also cleaned the trans solenoids when I first got the car, because I felt the shifting was a little sluggish; problem solved-it shifted great after that. I may have changed the alternator at some point, and probably did brakes, but I can’t remember for sure.

I stopped driving it a few months ago it when it developed some intermittent (electronic - probably computer-related) problems that I don’t have the time, ambition, or skills to tackle.

Sometimes it won’t start, but only when ambient air temperature is high. For example, it will almost always start right up first thing in morning when it’s cool out, but if I wait til later when it’s warmer, it sometimes won’t. On really hot days, or parked in full sun, it usually won’t start at all. But if I leave it til after dark, it starts right up.. Sometimes, if I would turn the car off after driving a short distance (such as stopping for gas), it wouldn’t start back up (sputter once, then die). I would wait 5 or six minutes, and it would start right up, as if nothing had happened. There was also an intermittent shifting problem, where it sometimes wouldn’t shift into overdrive, and had to be manually shifted down into first at stop, or it would stay in higher gear to start. The ‘sport-mode’ shift indicator light on the dash would sometimes blink randomly, or not turn on and off at all when pushing the button on the shifter. When not acting up, though, the shifting was solid & tight; just as it should be.

** Several Honda enthusiasts & mechanics have advised that (based on my description of the issues) the problems are almost certainly due to a faulty main relay, which by all accounts is a fairly simple and inexpensive fix. I have not had the time or energy to address the issue, but thought the info might be helpful to a potential bidder. **

Also, exhaust system needs to be replaced, and the driver’s window is stuck, jammed an inch or two below closed position.Radio is missing. Windshield is cracked. Interior is ok - no tears or worn through, but some stains and blemishes on upholstery; vinyl falling off of door panels; two small punctures in dash pad. The center console is presently out, but included & complete.

All other issues are mostly cosmetic, and can be seen in photos. If you’d like more photos of particular areas, feel free to request.
