Description:

1941 Ford Super Deluxe Clown Car

This car started as a 1941 Ford Super Deluxe and, as told to me, became the Clown Car for the Shrine Circus in Florida. It’s a piece of American History and was repainted four years ago in yellow as that’s the color as when it was used in the circus.Previous owner has made attempts to retrieve accurate history on this car, which was purchased from a reputable Ford dealer in Wisconsin. While having no solid documentation, he retained the sign that the Ford dealer received when he purchased the car from a fellow in Nebraska. As the story goes, this fellow purchased it from the person who purchased it and then later customized it for the Shrine Circus in Florida. The old man, I was told, worked for the circus and built this car out of a 1941 Ford Super Deluxe sedan. It was used for years as a car out of which the clowns would crawl. In those days, a number of clowns were midgets. At a swap meet the previous owner was told by an old-timer who says he saw this car at the circus, that it was hilarious to watch as clown after clown exited the car.Sometime after that, the car went from only being in the circus to being driven in parades by the Shriners. The Ford dealer mentioned that he used it in parades all over Wisconsin. The electric fan was added sometime after it went into service as a parade car so the engine wouldn’t overheat, and even later a radio was added for additional entertainment.Over the years, the car has not really been modified. It runs and drives well. It has less than 100,000 miles on it. It’s still running off the 1941 flathead V-8 engine with all the 1941 running gear. It has been converted from 6 volt to 12 volt to power the fan, radio, lights and various accessories.Vehicle comes with a clean Oregon title with permanent plates. Also comes with an array of parts to further customize it.Please feel free to ask any questions and I will try my best to answer them.
