1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible
Great classic car restoration project, in storage since 1974! I purchased this car to restore because of its overall good condition; the trunk, floors and frame are in very good condition. You can see in the pics that the car has rot on the rocker panels and around the bottoms of the fenders, which is pretty typical and easy to fix. The front fenders are in good shape. Engine and body parts are readily available.
This 1957 Ford Thunderbird was built in Dearborn, Michigan. It has the ORIGINAL 312 CID, 245hp V8“Thunderbird Special†motor, a “Ford-o-matic†automatic transmission, standard steering & brakes, dual exhaust, 4 bbl carburetor, Town & Country radio, trunk mounted antenna, telescoping steering column, and engine dress-up kit. Flame Red interior, and a white convertible top that needs replacement. The car was originally Flame Red but was repainted Gunmetal Gray in 1964. When I purchased it, it was a two-owner car, original owner lived in North Carolina, second owner purchased car around 1963 and brought it to the Mahopac, NY area. While in Mahopac, the car was driven about ten years, then parked in a garage in 1974 where it sat until I purchased it a few years ago. Mileage is at about 89,900.Comes with original hubcaps and jack, and reproduction mechanic’s manual.
After I began the restoration, I found that my many home projects did not leave me enough time to accomplish the restoration that this classic deserves, so regretfully I have decided to part with it.
The motor did turn over, but is now stuck from sitting, and may or may not require a rebuild.
