Mint condition 1988 Saleen Mustang #168. 32,000 fully documented original miles. The Saleen was bought new by Sean Cour on November 11th 1987 at Dameron Ford in Beaverton Oregon who put only 6255 miles on the car when he sold it to the second owner 2/15/94.Three collector owners since new. All original paper work including; Saleen sales literature, original window sticker, original dealer contract, all papers, Mari report, ect. 100% Original paint. Mint undercarriage with factory stickers still on undercarriage. Completely stock with the exception of ceramic headers, and racing cat-back exhaust. I have a stack of documentation. Dash and rear view mirror signed by Steve Saleen. In Saleen Registry. Documented ownership history from new. Received gold twice at the Ford concourse d elegance in Bellevue WA (scored 680 out of 700 points). Interior looks brand new. Garaged since day one. Never seen rain. One of the best.
PAINT/BODY- 100% original paint. Never in accidents. No story car. The original paint still looks new. The paint is in excellent shape. There are a few rock ships on the front of the car. The car still has all of the original vin stickers on the fenders, hatch, rear quarter panels, ect. All vin numbers match. The body is stock with no modifications. The original owner had the stock pin striping, rear Saleen decal, 302 hood decals, and Racecraft Suspension fender decals all done in gold leaf with dark grey pin stripping. The Gold leafing looks stunning. The front and rear ford emblems were also gold plated. The Saleen window sticker was replaced for a custom gold leaf sticker. The car has is factory Ford Motor Sports decals on both side rear windows. This is a factory black/gold color combination car.
MOTOR/TRANSMISSION- Completely stock motor with the exception of JBA short tube ceramic coated headers and a complete MAC cat-back racing exhaust. I recently had a new radiator and heater core installed. The stock five speed manual transmission shifts like new. The complete drive train is original. 3.55 Traction-Lok rear axle. Optima Red Top battery with gold plated battery terminals.
PROVENANCE- I have every piece of documentation that came with the car from new including; protecto plate (metal warranty card), delivery checklist, buyers order form, window sticker, buyers contract, all original manuals, Monroe shock manuals/warranty card, General tire manual/warranty card, cancelled check for deposit, Saleen sales literature, Saleen window sticker, Marti Report. I have a three ring binder full of maintenance/repair records from 1988 to present. This car is in the Saleen Registry. The dash and rear view mirror were autographed by Steve Saleen at the concourse.
INTERIOR- The interior is in MINT (new)condition. There is no signs of wear present. The Flo-fit seats are in like new condition. The dash, carpet, door panels, and head liner are perfect. The original numbered dash plate is in place as well as the original Saleen issued steering wheel.
SUSPENSION- Updated front coils, Max Motorsports adjustable camber plates. New Dunlop tires. Stock Racecraft shocks. The stock gold mesh wheels are in mint condition and have no curb rash.
I bought this car to compliment my Mustang collection. I also have a 1966 Shelby GT350 hertz car in the same colors as the Saleen (black and gold). The Saleen in my opinion is the "Shelby" of the 80's and early 90's. I have regretfully decided to list this car for sale as it only gets driven a few times a month. The car needs nothing. This Saleen runs, drives, and looks like new.
