Description:

1949 Ford Other Pickups F1

1949 Mercury M47 Half Ton Pickup Truck, very rare truck and beautifully restored. This truck runs and drives perfectly with fully rebuilt original Flathead V8 and 3 speed manual transmission. This truck is owned by a close family friend that had it lovingly restored to his tastes two years ago and he has assigned us to sell it on Ebay for him. It has covered 5,500 miles since the restoration. He has requested we set a Reserve Price which we don't normally do but I believe his Reserve is very reasonable. We can assist in arranging shipping.
The body is in excellent shape, finished with a very eye catching maroon paint job. You won't find the usual rust, bondo or dents in the fenders and running boards as they have been practically replaced with fiberglass reproductions. The front fenders and grille have been updated to the more desirable and more attractive 1951 design. The tailgate was replaced with a new steel Ford reproduction tailgate. All of the chrome is in very good condition. It retains the original 1949 hood with the Mercury specific emblems. The glass is all new with new weatherstripping. The bed floor has new wood finished to a very high standard. Overall a very attractive restoration that draws a lot of positive attention.
The interior is in excellent condition. The original seat has been re-upholstered to a very high quality, as well as the headliner. The original instrument cluster has been rebuilt so as all of the gauges function like new. It has been fitted with an early 1950's Ford car steering wheel to add some extra glamour to the interior. The original radio does not currently work. The doors and windows all open and close very smoothly. The original heater works. The original Mercury tag is still attached to the glove compartment door. It is surprisingly well insulated and not intrusively loud when travelling at 60 mph. Sitting in this truck is a trip back to a better time.
The original Flathead V8 was fully rebuilt 5,500 miles ago. It starts instantly hot or cold with a smooth stable idle. It is remarkably quiet running. It has no fluid leaks and plenty of power. It will cruise effortlessly at 60 mph. It breathes through a dual exhaust and after market chrome air cleaner. We just changed the oil and filter, replaced all ignition components and installed a new fan belt. The brakes are strong and it stops nice and straight. The clutch is light and bites low, the transmission shifts very smoothly. It handles very well, the steering and suspension are very tight due to all new parts when restored 5,500 miles ago. You can drive this truck in traffic on a hot summers day with no concerns of it overheating. The original brass/copper radiator was re-cored when the rest of the work was done. The gas tank has been relocated from the cab to the rear of the truck. Overall this is the most usable example of a 48-52 Ford truck I have had the pleasure of driving. There are no running or drivability issues. It is ready to be driven and enjoyed. I would even be confident in suggesting that you could fly in and cruise this truck home.
Overall this is a unique and tastefully customized 1949 Ford Mercury truck. It is ready to be enjoyed and taken to shows by its new owner. The Reserve has been set at a very reasonable amount by the owner, below half of what he has invested so be assured this truck will represent excellent value to the new owner.

Shipping

Should you wish to have your new (old) vehicle shipped, then let us know and we can put you in contact with our preferred shippers. Theseshippers are familiar with us, our inventory and our location. They are also very reasonably priced.

If you decide to use an alternative shipper, please make them aware if the vehicle is a 'non-runner' and, therefore, will require a winch for loading and unloading. We are not responsible if you book a shipper who is incapable of loading the vehicle.

Due to the nature of what we do, we are often on the road in search of new vehicles, so please be sure to make us aware of your shipping/collection arrangements ahead of time, so that we can arrange to be there to meet you or your shipper.

who we are and what we do

We are two brothersthat seek out original trucks and cars fromall acrossCanada specializing in vehicles from the 40s, 50s and 60s.

We started heading North to source these vehicles several years ago due to the severe lack of such vehicles in the US in recent times due to our huge car culture. Most American barn finds have long been found and tampered with by several owners yet North of the border there still seems to be an abundance of good solid original vehicles waiting to be brought back to life.

We make these great vehicles available to the US market by importing them into the US and acquiringa Clear US Title.

We also specialize insourcing Mercuryand Fargo trucks and have successfully imported and found new homes for dozens of fine original examples.

We are passionate about finding the best thatthere is and understand that our customers want to see automobiles that have not been tampered with; the more original, the better.

Our inventory is regularly updated, as new finds are unearthed. If there is something specific that you are looking for, then let us know and we'd be happy to see if we can help.

The business we conduct is straightforward and honest. Whether you're looking for something that'sall original, a starting point for a restoration project orsolid bones for a custom build, Bison Brothers will deliver.
