Description:
1962 Ford Thunderbird --
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1962 Ford Thunderbird 2-door convertible for purchase. The 1st generation Thunderbird was a success outselling the Corvette. It was a personal luxury car (when there really wasn't such a thing) that was a 2-seat roadster but Ford felt the sales could be even better. The 2nd generation (starting in 1958) would see the Thunderbird grow to 4 seats and offer a hardtop coupe and a convertible. While such a dramatic change would have doom written all ove...r it the sales took off and grew at a time when almost all other American vehicles didn't. This gorgeous Thunderbird was completely restored and built with great care and love. It is dressed in a stunning paint of Corinthian White over a red interior. The interior was beige per the Data plate but was change at the time of restoration. The car is immaculate all around. The chrome shows very well and as you can see the underside was also restored. The body work and paint were done at Wolf and Gleason Auto Body. According to the owner at the time of restoration there was no rust repair needed the car was a solid example to begin with. The power plant consists of a 390 v8 engine with according to the owner roughly 300 horsepower. It features an automatic column shift transmission with a "swing away" steering column. The guy who rebuilt the motor and transmission and helped the owner restore the car is a Master ASE certified technician. The car has power steering power brakes power locks power windows seat belts air conditioning sports side trim tonneau cover Kelsey Hayes wire wheels with the correct tires for the car. This '62 sits in show quality excellent condition and is a great smooth cruising car! The owner of the car belonged to the Vintage Thunderbird Club International and the car achieved Senior Car status on September 26 2010. It took an impressive 295 points out of 300.
