1934 Ford Other

This 1934 Ford coupe has a little something for everyone. It's a little bit familiar but isn't a slave to tradition and packs a fuel-injected LT1 that makes it more than just pretty. Neat tricks abound making this the rod for people who appreciate innovation and craftsmanship as much as loud engines and horsepower. If you squint you can see echoes of John Milner's '32 Ford coupe in this '34 from the 5-window body style to the bobbed fenders out back. Then again the '34 is a totally different design and they took advantage of its many unique features to create this awesome rod. Up front there's the traditional heart-shaped grille which is still one of the finest designs of the '30s. Stripping it of its fenders gives it a bare-knuckle look that's very appealing and with the yellow paint it's anything but subtle. Fortunately this high-impact rod has the build quality to back up the eyeball-searing paint with great gaps on the suicide-style doors a deep shiny finish and yes it's steel not 'glass. The open hood sides show off the hardware and when you look close you'll find details like the neat little spreader bar and bumperettes up front and in back plus hand-laid pinstripes that are totally traditional. This rod does a lot of things exactly right. The interior is definitely modern with handsome bucket seats custom upholstered to look sporty but not dated. Matching door panels continue the vertical pleat theme but the original '34 dash is still in place. Features include a tilt steering column A/C and a full array of gauges from Classic Instruments which look right at home in the '34's instrument panel. A trick overhead console houses the controls for the A/C system and twin wipers as well as a set of map lights while the powerful AM/FM/cassette stereo is stashed in its own special panel under and behind the original dash. And yes this is a practical rod too because there's a legitimate rumble seat in back that's been upholstered to match the interior and offers room for two real-sized adults to have some fun on the roll. The engine is a Corvette-spec LT1 350 cubic inch V8. Being exposed like that means it has to look good as well as go like stink so they dressed it up with a custom chrome accessory drive system brushed silver valve covers and hidden wiring and plumbing wherever possible. A big radiator up front keeps things nice and cool and with block-hugging headers and a custom exhaust system with glasspack-style mufflers it sounds like the 1950s. The transmission is a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive unit so this '34 can cruise effortlessly at highway speeds and actually pulls down decent fuel economy while doing it. The chassis was painted to match the bodywork and was obviously highly detailed when it was built. Today it shows a few signs of use but things like the 9-inch Ford rear end 4-wheel disc brakes and Mustang II type front suspension all suggest that cruising is what it was built to do. Slick 18- and 20-inch Boyd Coddington wheels give it that old-school stance and are wrapped in 225/40/18 front and 295/40/20 rear Dunlop radials. This is another one of those gorgeous rods that couldn't possibly be duplicated for the asking price. If you like the minimalist look you'll be delighted with the surprises inside. Call today!
