Description:

1971 Ford F-350 Flatbed Dually

Very cool, vintage, desert Southwest, great running and shifting, nicely patina'd, cancer free, totally stock and original 1971 Ford F-350 flatbed dually truck which would make a great rat rod, hot rod, shop truck, vintage car hauler, daily driver for business/pleasure, etc. I'm selling it for a friend whose husband passed away leaving behind a small collection of vintage cars and trucks which she has no use for.
The exterior and body are in excellent original condition. It sat outside in our dry desert climate from 1998 until now (last licensed in 1998). Paint is original and there are no signs of accident history. Doors open and close very solidly and windows roll up and down properly. All flat glass is good but windshield is cracked (about $200 installed). Diamond plate steel flatbed is very sturdy and crossmembers are welded to the frame. I have many undercarriage pictures available which show the cancer free nature of the body. Most exterior lights still work.
The interior is all totally stock and original. Dash in in great shape with all buttons and knobs still in place and no cutting or butchery of any kind. Dash pad is cracked from the sun and gauge pod plastic is clouded. Idiot lights and some gauges work but horn, radio, wipers and heater fan do not (it could be as simple as fuses). Seat upholstery is original and in poor condition. Floorboards had surface rust only (zero cancer; they had been covered by the factory rubber mat since new which I removed because it had become dry and brittle) so I painted them with Rustoleum for protection.
The running gear is rock solid. The carb was freshly rebuilt after sitting so long and now the engine runs great. The four speed manual transmission shifts smoothly and the Dana 60 differential is a workhorse. The gas tank may need to be cleaned. For the sake of expediency I rigged up a small tank under the hood. Brakes need to be pumped to work. The mechanic who rebuilt the carb said the rear drum brakes were good but the front disc brakes needed calipers. It comes with all six original split rims but I have installed newer style rims on the front. Tires are old and cracked and should only be used as rollers. Inside rear tires are in especially rough shape.
This is a wonderfully well preserved piece of vintage machinery. It is totally original and cancer free with excellent bones. If it was mine I'd just finish off the remaining details, retain the patina and enjoy it. These beauties can be restored over and over but are only original once. Just my two cents.
