Description:

1950 Ford Other Custom Fordor

1950 Ford “Sport Sedan”.

This exceptional 1950 Ford Custom Sedan has less than 50K actual miles and has been kept inside since new. See the 1957 oil change sticker on the door post. No rust ever. It has been repainted the original green and reupholstered. The original flathead V8 clutch and brakes have less than 1000 miles since their total rebuild. (The engine was bored .030 over – the rebuilder said it was the best Flathead block he’s seen in 30 years). The overdrive works like new. The chrome and stainless brightwork are all original as is the glass except for one pane which was cracked. There’s no smoke in any of the glass. The rubber belts hoses and door seals have all been replaced. The original speedometer fuel gauge ammeter and heater blower and windshield wipers all work. The car has been slightly updated with 2” lower front springs bullnose hood trim rally wheels and radial tires electronic ignition electric fuel pump headers and dual exhausts with Smitty glaspacks. Otherwise it is totally unmolested. This car is a joy to see and hear and drive.

The Ashville NC gentleman who bought this car new in 1950 built a garage just for it and parked it in the garage every night. In 1957 he bought a new Ford. The new car was too long for the garage so the ’50 sat there in the garage unmoved until the gentleman passed away in 1975. His son then put 4 new Sears tires on the car and towed it to his home in Richmond Virginia and parked it in his garage. And there it sat for 30 more years. I bought the car in 2005 from the third generation owner in that family. It was still in the garage where it had been parked in 1975.

The title I got when I bought the car was the original 1950 title and it goes with the car along with the original owner’s manual. Also included are the original wheels and hubcaps original front springs fuel pump hood ornament and a complete NOS single exhaust system in case you want to return the car to 100% original condition.
