For Sale: Datsun 510 Race Car. History goes back 20 years. Car has won SCCA National races
Very well prepared car. Full roll cage with driver door dual bars. Cage tied into strut towers. 144 raced at Gingerman and Black Hawk Farms this year. It was registered and ready to race at the ELVF at Road America. Purchase of a D Sports Racer changed plans. Car also comes with an extensive spare parts list.
240 Z coil over struts with Z two piston caliper front brakes. Camber plates. Koni shocks in the rear with Z finned aluminum drum brakes. Just installed stock master cylinder. Hydraulic proportioning valve to rear. Brakes work very well. Newer Hawk Blue pads. Front and Rear Anti Roll Bars. All Flex brake lines are braided stainless steel. Ermisch Steering Box and Idler Arm stiffening braces installed in 2016.
Rear cross member was just replaced (Aug) with a Datsport fully adjustable rear cross member. Cross member and mustache bar mounting bushings are aluminum. Trailing arm bushings are poly. Purchased the cross member as full assembly from Datsport in South Australia. Datsport replaces the stock trailing arm mounting brackets with approximate 1/4"thick welded brackets that have slots for easy and parallel adjustment. The through bolt has a slotted head through which the positive adjusting bolt slips. There are welded captive nuts that the adjusting bold threads into. Provides easy adjustment and a positive lock to the trailing arm position. No more sudden change in toe and no problems with the bushings binding. We have done a rough alignment. Engine was originally built with 12.5 to 1 J-E forged pistons and Eagle rods. The Eagle rods are designed for a Toyota motor. The rod journal is now 1.889. Purchased these parts from Rebello Racing in 2013. Block is a .040 over race prepped block. Line honed and all oil gallery plugs are tapped for allen plugs. Oil passages to the main bearings have been enlarged. Cylinder head is a ported/polished W58 (peanut) head. New Isky Z 273 cam shaft with new lash pads and a three angle valve job was done in August of 2015. Springs are Isky 7005.
Engine was rebuilt in spring of 2016 with a Guy Henson Crankshaft. Guy changes the oil passages to provide better oiling at high rpm. He drills 1 and 3 main to provide oil passages to 1 and 3 rod journals. He also eliminates the cross drilled rod journal oil passagesand provides proper drilled oil passages to the mains. Each rod journal now is oiled from one main bearing.
Crank was reground to .010 mains and the 1.889" for the Eagle connecting rods. Crank was then Nitrided and Balanced by Molnar Crankshaft of Grand Rapids, MI.Crank is also micro polished. Engine bearings are Clevite 77.
Radiator is a Griffin Aluminum Racing unit. Oil cooler is new in 2016. All the external oil lines and all fuel lines are proper Aeroquip with AN fittings. Fuel Cell is in the trunk. Fuel is delivered through Aeroquip hose by a Holley Fuel pump and filter.
Carbs are 45 mm Mikuni's with short velocity stacks. Header is Nismo. Ignition is an MSD 6al triggered by a Datsun Electronic distributor firing an MSD Blaster Coil.
Transmission is a Datsun 4 speed. The differential is a Datsun 4.0 ratio with welded spider gears. Clutch is a Centerforce pressure plate with a six puck racing clutch all mounted to an aluminum flywheel. Starter is new in 2016. The engine is equipped with a 35 amp mini alternator.
Full set of gauges and tach along with a 25 psiswitch low oil pressure light which is wired into the main battery cut off switch. If the engine is off and the oil light is on then you have left the power on.
There is a nice padded racing seat along with a set of RCI cam lock belts good through 2018. RCI will recertify belts for a modest fee. Car is set up for a window net and is equipped with a fire bottle system.
Engine hood and rear deck lid are fiber glass as are the front fenders. All windows are lexan. Also included is a quick release air dam for high speed tracks.
Wheels are Diamond Mini Stock Car Wheels with Toyo R888 tires which are about half worn. The wheels only weigh 13 lbs.
Also included in the sale is the pictured 23' Trailex trailed and mounted tool box. Trailer weighs 1300 pounds and has one new tire. The other tires and spare are in good condition. The bearings were repacked and two replaced in August of 2015. The bed of the trailer from the end to the tool box is 16'. Trailer has a title
