Description:

1988 Citroën Citroen IES 2CV Gringa

Vehicle Details

The Gringa is a Citroen IES 2CV made in Argentina for just 4 years.  After the 2/3CV production was ceased by Citroen in 1985, the chief production engineer purchased the factory and tooling to continue making the 2CV under license from Citroen and the brand was know as IES Citroen.  While the Citroen corporate bean counters wanted to switch to more modern water cooled engine models, the general public just couldn't give up the 2CV habit and tradition.  So the sedan and Mehari were continued in production, although in limited numbers.  The Gringa was under development by Citroen for the Argentine market for several years, but with the anticipated change in production to newer water cooled models they held off on the Gringa and never ramped up production.  Using the standard 602cc two cylinder engine and transmission, a box frame was designed to made a larger and stronger cargo bed for small farm use. " here is basically brand new.  I purchased him a few years back with the intent of working him on the farm, but since he was basically new and unblemished I just kept him in collection until now.  After I sold my farms, I couldn't bear to leave him stranded in Argentina and wanted to introduce Chico to a proud owner here in the US.  Chico will arrive at the Port of LA about June 6.  I can arrange loading onto a truck if you independently arrange for shipping.  You can learn more of the Gringa Citroen story at my website, www.vamanosvan.com and drill down into the Gringa section.
