1963 Chevrolet Nova Restomod
Why aren't all cars built as well as this 1963 Chevy Nova? It's got everything you want in a classic cruiser: looks performance style and comfort. It's a bit of a sleeper with that thumping 383 under the hood but the details are what will get it noticed at shows. This Nova is the decathlete of vintage cars. The Nova wasn't designed as a performance car from the start but you can't ignore the predatory crouch of this hardtop. The icy white paint is low-key but it also accentuates the oversized tires and wicked stance letting the sheetmetal do the talking. There's not a lot of bright trim on the Nova making it perfect for keeping a low profile and nothing distracts from the overall look. Panel gaps are pretty good which is especially critical on a white car like this and the addition of a cowl-induction hood adds a traditional Chevy high-performance look that blends in nicely with the Nova's lines. It's not perfect and I don't think it was meant to be because if it was too nice you'd be afraid to use it to its potential and given how this one moves that would be a real shame. The chrome and stainless trim particularly the piece that runs along the tops of the fenders from nose to tail gives the little Nova a big car look and helps keep it under the radar because it looks so stock. There's a bit of a party happening inside where you get some Scat ProCar buckets to hold you in place and you're gonna need 'em! The modern chairs actually work rather well in the Nova interior with vertical pleats that match the back seat reasonably well. Other custom upgrades include a tilt steering column with a fat leather-wrapped wheel and a custom instrument panel full of Auto Meter Phantom gauges that look great. Blue LEDs under the dash reveal three pedals to dance with and a 5-speed shifter topped by a Hurst cue ball. A hidden stereo system uses your iPod to power speakers in the doors plus a set of Rockford-Fosgate amplifiers and an optional subwoofer hook-up. The trunk is remarkably clean and finished in spray-on bedliner material for durability with a battery right over the rear axle where it can do the most good. This car originally came with a 283 and a 4-speed so slipping the 383 cubic inch stroker motor under the hood was relatively easy. But it's more than just another 100 cubic inches it's got a set of aluminum Victor Jr. heads a Comp Cams camshaft with solid lifters an Edelbrock intake and a QuickFuel 4-barrel carburetor all making some pretty serious go power. The engine bay is extremely sanitary with all the wiring and plumbing tucked out of sight plenty of polished aluminum and a bit of Chevy orange visible on the block. Long-tube headers feed a custom-bent dual exhaust system with a pair of Flowmasters out back. The transmission is a 5-speed manual feeding a custom Moser 12-bolt rear with 3.73 gears inside and a set of ladder bars holding it in place. Up front there's a Mustang II setup with rack-and-pinion steering and there's a disc brake at all four corners. Gorgeous 17-inch polished aluminum wheels and staggered 225/45/17 front and 245/45/17 rear BFGoodrich tires complete the look. With build receipts and photos this potent Nova is an absolute blast to drive. Ideal for Saturday night cruises and Sunday afternoons at the drag strip it's got all the right parts to always be fun. Call today!
