1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210

In November of 1954, General Motors built their 50 millionth vehicle and that milestone was celebrated with a one-off 1955 Bel Air 2 door hardtop. This car was painted a special gold color and adorned with 24 carat gold plated chrome and trim inside and out. The car was then paraded around the country with the GM Motorama car show along side GM's famous concept cars of the 50's.
Chevrolet also commissioned 5000 commemorative edition Bel Airs that would all be 4 door sedans and were painted a special code 689 gold that wasn't available on other 55 Chevrolets. This car listed here (VIN# VC550007488) is one of those 50 millionth gold commemorative cars.
Showing just 64,395 actual miles, this unrestored survivor has been owned by the same gentleman since 1974 and other than mechanical maintenance, remains as he purchased it 45 years ago. The original paint has been touched up and polished down to the primer in spots. The interior is original and showing it's age also. The radio has been replaced by a Buick Sonomatic AM that still works fine. The stock wheels and hubcaps are still in place along with older bias-ply whitewall tires. The chrome and stainless moldings are original to the car including the optional front and rear fender guards and front grill guard.
This car was also ordered with quite a few other factory options including the 265 V8, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, power windows and power front seat. All of the power accessories work fine except for a sticky right front window.
I've included a close-up of the cowl tag to verify the "689" special paint code and "511" interior code that these special edition cars came with.
There's very little rust on the car and I have some undercarriage pictures that I can send you if you're interested. The car is currently registered with Washington collector plates but because it's been stored for so long, I would count on some tuning, adjusting and some fresh tires before I would head out on a trip in it.
The car is still in the possession of it's long time owner in Covington Washington and I'm helping him find a new home for his baby.
Please call if I can answer any questions or to setup a time to see the car in person. 425-228-2277
