The Chevrolet Chevelle SS was one of the baddest muscle cars ever produced. Whether it was through the streets of America or down the 1/4 mile, the Chevelle was always in the front of the line. Detroit knew there was no replacement for displacement and as the Chevelle became more and more popular its engine became bigger and more powerful. The 396 engine option was one of the baddest engines ever built and when you matched it with the Chevelle's style and designed the result produced one of the most sought after cars of its time which still leads true to today's collectors.
This 1967 Chevelle SS is one of many cars that will be sold from a private collection. The owner is downsizing, so if this particular car is not of interest, there are plenty more.....(see photos below)
You are viewing a great example of how a car should be preserved. Most people back in the 60's bought cars like this to just beat the balls off them. But there were a select few that had the foresight to take care of them and drive them leisurely but to know that when they needed to step on the gas all hell would break loose. The car was purchased from the original owner in 1977 where it remained in a climate controlled storage facility until the third owner purchased it in 1996. We have documentation from the 3rd owner stating that the car was all original in 1996 and in excellent condition. The owner wanted to leave it all original until someone had backed into the driver's door in 2011. The body shop that repaired the vehicle informed the owner the paint would never match because of the evolution of paint and its technology the paint today would never match its original look....So upon that knowledge the owner would finally decide to do a full exterior restoration. Please read on to learn about what was done to this car and what makes it so special and below that you'll view many pictures and a video at the bottom.
Exterior:
In 2011 the body was painted its original Mountain Green color. It was done right. All the chrome and brightwork was removed. The doors, trunk and hood were removed. All new window felts and new rubber were replaced also. At the time the car was in the paint shop the engine was removed(see the Drive-Train section below about engine and trans). The car has all its original sheet metal and was done as a frame up/on restoration. The body is straight and solid. Underneath the car has all its original sheetmetal and no patches and is all solid. All the chrome was reinstalled and all the brightwork has either been redone and/or polished before reinstalling. All the glass is original and all lights and signals work perfectly. The vinyl top was replaced at the time of paint and is in excellent condition. The paint luster and depth are remarkable and would stand tall at any show it graces. Please view all the photos and video and let me know of any question you may have.
Interior:
The interior was just freshenedup. Whatever needed to be replaced was done but it's mostly original. There are some rare options which include tilt wheel, am/fm multiplex stereo with power antenna and a complete gauge package. All in which work perfectly. The interior along with its exterior are show ready and presents extremely well. There is the addition of a 10 disc CD changer in the glove box. The pictures will speak for themselves and you can tell this car was well preserved. Please view all the pictures below and let us know of any questions you may have.
Drive-Train:
At the time of exterior restoration the motor and trans were removed since at that time previous to the current owner the vehicle was sitting in storage for over 15 years. The original numbers matching motor was rebuilt and the original numbers matching turbo 400 was rebuilt as well. This car/engine also came with a factory Holly intake and Holly carburetor(has currently a newer Holly Carburetor) Also, it received all new shocks, bushings, springs, ball joints, brake lines and the 4 piston factory calipers were redone as well. It has been researched that about 1% of the Chevelle SS came with these special front disc brakes from the factory. Also the exhaust was redone with Warlock mufflers with racing cutouts. The car has been driven a total of 1500 miles in the last 20 years and about 500 since the rebuild of the drive-train. The miles are 100% original and documented.
In Summation:
When looking to add a car to your collection or maybe invest in your first collector car, there is no other car then the Chevelle. It had proven itself to be the best of the best during the muscle car era and now the car is legendary. This car is numbers matching, with documented low miles and a beautiful history and restoration attached to it. Again, remember, there is a collection of about 50 cars that is available for sale, see photos below.
Payment:
A $1000 non refundable deposit is due immediately after auction end. Balance due in 7 days. No exceptions. Ask all questions and view WHOLE ad before you bid.
