1970 Chevrolet Nova

On March 25th, 1970, Bessie Anderson walked into the local two car showroom better known as Avenue Chevrolet at 24 N Batavia, Ave, Batavia, IL and took delivery of her 1970 Chevy Nova. Bessie opted for few, if any options. A tried and true 230 inline six cylinder motor mated to a GM powerglide transmission. Power steering, no power brakes, an AM radio and that's it. No air conditioning, power windows, heck she even passed on factory carpet.
She drove her Nova sparingly over the next two decades to a mere 35K miles. All maintenance was tended to by a local Batavia garage that still is in business today. Upon her passing, her husband rarely drove Bessie's Nova and continued the rapport with the local mechanic. In the early 2000's Bessie's Nova was stuffed into a storage trailer at the local garage at her widower's request. Unable to drive her old Nova any longer but unable to part with his late wife's one owner Nova.
Fast forward to the present day. Fresh from a decade and a half hibernation, I present you Bessie Anderson's 1970 Chevy Nova. It's a real, one owner, bare bones Nova with a mere 36,280 original miles. The car is original as they come, the paint, interior, trunk, engine compartment, and undercarriage are original and untouched. I simply washed off nearly two decades of dirt, buffed and waxed the original lacquer to a respectable shine.
The story goes that Bessie's Nova was close to pristine when put into the storage trailer close to twenty years ago. However, the wood trailer floor and dampness inside lead to surface rust on the undercarriage and rust through in the lower quarters and front fenders. What I can tell you though, is that the floors, including the trunk are rock solid. I pulled the rear seat to expose the GM floors, and found no rot. The same can be said for the trunk. Just minor surface rust from the trunk mat. The doors, trunk, hood, and roof are in remarkable shape for their age. They wear nearly 50 years of door dings, scratches, and scuffs, but it's an all original paint car.
Some fresh gas, a new ignition coil, a new Delco battery and a new radiator, to replace the original leaky one was all it took to get Bessie's Nova running again. I also replaced the decades old tires with a brand new set of whitewall radials for safety and drivability. From the working key buzzer, to the powerglide transmission, the car starts, shifts, and drives like you'd expect an honest 36K mile car to. I saved the original radiator and ignition coil and are included in the sale.
I love original paperwork and was pleased when I reached into the glovebox to find the original Chevy warranty book or "protectoplate" in Bessie's name, as well as the original owners manual, 1970 Chevy consumer guide, and the original Chevy plastic sleeve. I also found the original broadcast sheet under the seat and was amazed at the condition.
In summation, if you're looking for a one owner, untouched, low mile, Survivor, with great original paperwork, here's one to consider. Drive it as is, or take it to the next level. She's a perfect candidate for an L78 or Yenko Deuce tribute car.
