An optional 220-horsepower 350 ci engine (L-82) was available. It was the first Pace Car in history to use an entirely stock drivetrain.Although only 300 replicas were originally planned to match the production number of the 1953 model Chevrolet eventually had to produce 1 for approximately every dealer for a total of 6502.The 1978 Pace Car Corvette was driven by 1960 Indy 500 winner Jim Rathmann his fifth time at the wheel of the pace car. The mileage is showing correct at just 26491 KM or about 16450 US Miles. This is one of very few Pace Car replica Corvettes delivered new to Canada and is particularly rare because of the optional L82 motor.The paint shows light wear and some light fading. We see absolutely no signs of accident or repairs to the body. The interior is in very good condition with very light wear and no visible fading in either the seats carpets or dashboard/console. The original stereo works lights work it runs very smoothly with that growly V8 sound.Original cars are only original once and this Corvette is in what we call “preservation class” condition. It wouldn’t disappoint at any car show and is a lot of fun to drive around.
